No roads, no streetlights, no horns or sirens - just miles of pristine, rolling coastline.

Upon arriving at Beyond the White Breakers, you will find fresh linens provided and your beds made in preparation for your stay. This well appointed, large 6 bedroom home sports 4 spacious master bedrooms. Since Beyond the White Breakers is pet friendly, we have taken the worry away about where to board man's best friend during your family's week in paradise. One of the most unique qualities of this home is the private boardwalk to the beach and dune-top deck that offers the perfect backdrop for your morning coffee or evening star gazing. The large private pool with ample furniture & tiki bar, hot tub on the top deck overlooking the ocean and rec room with ping-pong table and wet-bar are the perfect wind down after a day at the beach.

Equipped with Stainless appliances, this modern, well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare the perfect meal for your family. And if outdoor cooking is preferred, a gas grill is provided for your convenience. Whether you chose to dine in the indoor dining area or perhaps the screened porch, the crystal clear ocean views are unparalleled. Though you are "away from it all" you can still connect with the rest of the world with wifi or by watching one of many flat screen TVs throughout the home. Parking passes are REQUIRED on Currituck County beaches between April 30 and October 1. This home provides TWO beach parking passes.

We would highly recommend this home on the 4x4 beach – it is situated on a perfect spot with a beautiful view of the ocean. Staying in this house gives you a perfect vacation - it's peaceful and calm - you can watch the sunrise on the water in the morning and even see the sunset reflecting on the water in the evening and sometimes there's even a brilliant surprise of a rainbow. This is the perfect setting for a family vacation; if you like to fish – there is great fishing, if you like to Swim and Play in the water or even just take a long long walk on the beach this house is perfect for all of that.

These owners take such good care of this house it is well-maintained and they are very responsive. They update this house every year - they even have a brand new hot tub this year and new deck chairs - so it's something new every time you come. This is like your home away from home. We been coming to this house for 10 years and have been very happy every single time we've been there and can't wait to come back.

Beyond The White Breakers privacy

We had a wonderful experience! Booking during the off season allowed us to park on the beach without a permit, but this was the easiest beach access. The boardwalk to the beach is destroyed and needs to be reconstructed, but driving to the beach was perfect for us. We would stay here again! Very clean,privacy, kitchen supplies were plentiful, the views were splended from the hot tub.

Fabulous home on Carova!!

This house was amazing! We were a family of 8, ranging from 50-18. The house has plenty of room to spread out and beautiful spaces to come together! IMO this house has the perfect layout. The kitchen has everything you need! House has games, books, movies, a game room downstairs. The house was clean and so comfortable! We loved everything! The weather was not the greatest but it didn’t even matter. On days it was super windy we sat on the side of the deck on the 2 floor still amazing views and out of the cold and rain, there is also a screen porch on upper level . The outdoor furniture is so comfortable ( that’s important to us since we spend much time outside) the lookout deck is awesome! Beautiful sunsets from there! And the stars!!! It is just so beautiful! Sunrise right from the house is spectacular. And the horses!! They are everywhere, they were right in the yard twice. We also loved walking the beautiful trails and driving around looking for them . We absolutely loved where the house was, i wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else, it’s at the end so it’s secluded and quiet and you can walk all through the “roads” and your in beautiful wooded trails . Again horses are everywhere! We went into town to go to the lighthouse and that, we ate at Uncle Ike’s, the lady at the lighthouse wildlife center recommended it, and it was fabulous!!! We mostly spent our time at the house, enjoying the beach, the horses, the trails, and just plain good family time! This was our first time in Carova, but we rent beach houses at least several times a year in different areas. This house is one of my favorites! I would highly recommend! And i would definitely stay again , i don’t think I’d want to stay anywhere else in carova!

BEyond the white breakers

We were a group of 14 with 4 being children plus 3 dogs. The house easily accommodated all of us. The pool and hot tub were a great asset for everyone. The horses visited almost everyday. The volunteer fire department having ice was very helpful. 4 stars only due to property needing yard maintenance otherwise a 5 star rental.

Best vacation we ever had!

It was about a 30 minute drive up the beach to get to his home but it was worth every minute. It had pretty much everything we needed. Having our own walkway to the beach was awesome!! The house is very comfortable and you can see the ocean and almost every room. We were blessed to see the sunrise in the morning from the deck and the full moon at night. Four of the horses came to visit us and we’re under our house and in the yard for quite a long time. It was a magical time.

Had a relaxing week at this property with the family. House was large enough, came fully equipped, and close enough to the end of the line to feel like we had our own private beach. Had one issue with the water pump going out- mgmt company had a plumber out within 20 minutes and issue corrected in under 3 hours from the time we reported it! House is a little older, but in good repair. Overall a great, quiet and relaxing stay!

A GREAT Family Vacation!

This house was exceptional for a family vacation of 10 (8 family/2 friends). This was the perfect getaway! Celebrated 2 birthdays and an anniversary. Beach was right there and the house supplied the chairs and boogie boards. There was plenty of beach / pool toys to enjoy. The house was clean and well equipped for everything. Location was great! Driving up the surf was fun but definitely need 4X4! Saw wild horses and they actually came right up to front steps. We did not really drive into town the entire week, maybe because we just had all we needed. Great place to relax. Even during the rainy day we had fun. Plenty of games etc. The pool and hot tub were a welcomed amenity.

We all had a great time. Beautiful sunrises. Horses in the yard. Home is beautiful. This is a great location. It takes a long time to reach driving on the beach but after the first time it wasn't too bad. I do not recommend all wheel drive must have a higher clearance.

wonderful beach house

beautiful beach house. It is hard to leave a house that makes you feel like you belong here if only for a week. This week we made lots of memories with my granddaughter and our family. The wild horses were there everyday to say hello and remind us that this was their home.

Best Vacation Ever!

My Mom, who is 90 always wanted to see live horses running wild. Well, it could not have been more perfect. The Mustangs were in the front yard for 3 days in a row! We were able to see them run down to the beach and immediately gallop back over the dunes and run down the yards next to us, then across our back yard, then saw them go up into the hills. It was absolutely wonderful. We could not have asked for a more beautiful location. The weather was perfect and the house was fantastic. I would recommend anyone who loves horses and the beach to stay at this location.

Great Summer Retreat!

We had a wonderful time at Beyond the White Breakers. While not luxurious, it was clean, well equipped and the rental agency was very responsive. The beach was amazing and the pool area was delightful. The hot tub and tiki bar appeared to be brand new. Although we would have enjoyed it regardless, it was the perfect getaway for our family during the pandemic. An elevator would be a great addition, as the living space is on the third floor and carrying groceries and other items up two flights was quite a chore.

We thought the rental was wonderful!!! It was VERY clean had all the necessary appliances and is located in the perfect spot. We even had 3 wild horses enjoy the carport for a bit, leave a “souvenir”...then went out grazing in the yard! Wow!!
I would say two things that the kitchen meds are more silverware and a better can opener. Other than that, perfect!

Amazing Vacation!

We've stayed in this area at homes that are technically more luxurious on paper, but all of the attention to detail and small touches of Beyond the White Breakers made it one of the most spectacular vacations we've ever taken in OBX. This was an adventure for our family! Driving on the beach was quite the experience, fun! The owners keep the house in amazing condition, everything was at your finger tips. I had an issue with the wifi service and the owner personally called me in order to clear up the miscommunication with the reality company. I appreciated his concern and enjoyed the extra tidbits he gave. The only down fall was "I WISH I would've booked the house for TWO weeks instead of only one!Truly one of the best vacations, I've had, thanks to all the amenities on property. A great big Thank you to the owners for making my dream come true!

Amazing home in perfect location - couldn't ask for more.

Wonderful home in amazing location! Couldn't ask for a better place to enjoy some quiet family time at the beach. The kitchen was very well equipped. Loved the gift bag with a couple of very necessary items in case we had forgotten them. Also enjoyed the bottle of wine! The house was clean, very functional and well set up. Unlike many vacation rentals, there was plenty of seating at dining tables and on couches in the living room for all to gather. Even the back deck had lots of seats for relaxing. Wild horses came to graze in the yard while we were there. We enjoyed stargazing from the viewing platform near the beach. Great place for quiet walks on the beach, as its only a half mile from the state line, at which point there are no motorized vehicles, so its a quick walk to quiet, secluded beach, or park with hiking trails. I really couldn't imagine what could be improved upon. If we get back to the outer banks, we will definitely stay at 'Beyond the White Breakers' again. It's one of those places that is so nice you almost don't want to write a great review, as you want to keep it a personal secret. But in fairness to the terrific owners, I can't say enough in praise of this house. It's even pet friendly, and our golden very much enjoyed his stay with us. The gate on the top deck came in handy to give him sunshine without risk of him running off. Lovely stay for all of us.

Beyond the white breakers - Beyond expectations

I would love to give this property a bad review, so no one would rent it and it would always be available for my family. But that would not be fair to the property owner, the rental company or the next family. This is a fantastic property.
It is located 10 miles off of the hard top. It will take you 30 to 40 minutes to get there, depending on beach driving conditions and beach traffic. A four wheel drive vehicle, with high ground clearance is needed to get through the deep dry sand on the dune side of the beach as well as on Sandfiddler road. If your family wants to visit the shops and restaurants of Duck, Corolla and the rest of the outer banks daily, this is not the property for you.
If , however you go to the beach for the beach, this is a great property. Easy, private beach access, surf fishing, beach combing, and wild horse watching.
The property was clean, well maintained and equipped better than many beach properties I have rented.
There are a lot of stairs at this property. If you are mobility challenged this may be an issue. Packing your supplies for the week in and out will take it's toll on your legs and back. You will feel it days after you have left. A vacation souvenir we were not expecting.
I would definitely rent this property again and recommend it to friends and family.

Family beach vacation

The home was just as described. It was beautiful and clean. The only flaw was a rip in one of the chairs in the master bedroom, but that did not effect our vacation. The home is beautifully decorated, overly stocked with plates, utensils, cooking supplies, and glasswear. The property is very secluded. It was about a 40 min drive down the beach. But we had plenty of visits from the wild horses, who would stop buy almost every morning. Sitting on the wrap around porches every morning while spotting dolphins in the ocean was a wonderful way to start the morning. The pool area had plenty of seating and lounge chairs, the only down side was that the pool got dirty with blowing sand and sand brought in. It would have been nice to have a way to vacuum out the pool and clean the bottom. The person who comes to check the chemical levels mid week doesn’t tend to that part of the pool. We had a wonderful vacation and would love to come back again!!

Perfectly Wonderful!!!

We loved the quiet solitude of this location. The home was well stocked and beautifully decorated. The beach was wide and flat and great for walking. The “ships watch” was a special area at the edge of the beach. We were too early in the season to use the pool but it looked great. Love the decks and porches and all of the chairs and a swing on two levels!!! We booked a week in September when we booked the April week and I’m so happy we will be returning to this special home. We saw the horses at least three times!!! Driving on the beach and the sand covered roads was a neat, new experience!!!!
