Town of Manteo Attractions Outdoor Activities
Take a break from the sand to explore shaded paths, historic oaks, colorful blooms, and breezy sound side view!

Fanciful and elaborate gardens were designed to entertain Queen Elizabeth I during her reign. The gardens were created for your enjoyment, and as a living memorial to the time when Sir Walter Raleigh’s lost colonists lived in this very place over 400 years ago. Seasonal changes bring an array of flowering plants, shrubs, and trees that draw visitors to return again and again. A monumental bronze sculpture of Queen Elizabeth I, ancient marble Italian statuary, and the solitary figure of Virginia Dare provide continuity to constantly changing flora. Horticultural collections and annual color planted every season give The Gardens a different perspective throughout the year.

While the gardens grace us with blooms year-round, the gardens have many seasonal events and programs blooming with activity too.  Visit their website to learn more! https://www.elizabethangardens.org/
