Beach nourishment projects are currently planned for portions of Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, and Kill Devil Hills during 2027. These shoreline protection projects help preserve and maintain the beaches that make the Outer Banks so special for generations to come.
During active construction periods, guests may experience temporary beach access limitations, construction equipment, sand pipelines, noise, or shifting work zones along the beach. Work areas move throughout the project and impacts are typically temporary.
