Had a great stay, unbeatable views and location. Was only unhappy with the pool and hot tub. Purposely rented this house for indoor pool as going in early spring, the pool was too cold to use, extremely in need of updating. Was able to use indoor hottub for first few days as it's temp was that of a pool not hot tub but for some reason Halfway thru stay it got cold. Not sure if dial was changed. So we did use roof top hot tub but it only had one working jet so that was a bummer. Otherwise loved this rental. Did not pay extra to heat indoor pool so maybe that was why it was cold. Assumed an indoor pool would be heated year round.

Roof top hot tub

We absolutely loved the roof top hot tub. This will be the reason we probably book next year. The jets button needs to be fixed as it was hard to turn on. All the pool sticks need to be replaced. They were all broken. Would have liked to have all the games in the same area. No TV remotes in half the rooms. Kitchen knives and pans need to be updated. Cleaning could have been better. I feel like with those changes, this place would be perfect for our group.

Great OBX week in The Thunderbird!

The Thunderbird is in a fantastic location. It’s within walking distance of Jeanette’s Pier and quite a few great restaurants to include ;The Dunes Restaurant, Sam & Omies, Owen’s Restaurant, and for dessert FatBoyz Ice Cream. Cahoon’s Grocery store is also a short walk and they make some awesome subs.
The Thunderbird is a unique home with a rooftop pool and rooftop hot tub. The rooftop hot tub offers fantastic views in all directions. Many mornings were enjoyed watching the sunrise from the rooftop.
The lower level offers an indoor lap pool where my family had fun racing each other.
The rooms are all very spacious and have their own bathrooms which is a huge plus and something we look for in a home. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking essentials. Unobstructed views of the ocean from the second and third level. Overall, the house was very clean on our arrival.
Pet friendly with a nice grass area out back as well as a large grass front yard. My daughter who brought her dog stayed in the bedroom which offered its own door to the outside for easy access taking her dog in and out to potty.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed the uniqueness of the home, the location, as well as the amenities the home offered (large rooms all with own bathrooms, two hot tubs, pet friendly, pool table, oceanfront, etc)
We loved it so much we have already booked for 2023!

This house was really unique. I’ve never stayed in a house quite like this but I loved it!! There was a ton of room! There was a finished garage right at the entry level which was great for storage during the week. The indoor pool was a really cool amenity, especially for the kids. Location was perfect!! The roof top hot tub and deck area were breath taking! We spent most nights up there. The views were unbelievable! Oh and the maintenance people responded quickly when the hot tub stopped working. The ocean front gazebo worked well for storage after coming in from the beach for chairs, canopy, toys etc. There is some grass areas for dogs in the back of the house. We brought a baby gate play yard and kind of made our own fenced in back yard for the dogs. The only down side to this house is it could use some minor upgrades and a deep clean. Not anything that wasn’t tolerable. We did hear someone has recently bought the house so maybe these things will be changed. The sound in the house carries very easily. I guess because of what the house is made of. I’m not sure if it’s concrete but whatever it is the sound carries. It didn’t bother most of us but if you’re a light sleeper it may. Otherwise we loved this house!! We had a total of 13 people in this house and we had plenty of room. 6 adults and 7 kids and 2 dogs.

The Thunderbird is an Awesome Home!

We had an awesome stay at The Thunderbird - it is such a nice house. We really enjoyed watching the sunsets and dolphins from the roof top. The location is convenient to everything we were wanting to do. Our four year old Granddaughter is ready to come back next year - and so is everyone else! Everyone had a wonderful time. Our family Christmas gathering at the beach !

We all enjoyed the house , great location and my grandson really enjoyed the indoor hot tub and the roof top hot tub. It was clean and had extra things we needed. Breathtaking views

We had a wonderful stay at the Thunderbird! The best part of this stay was the convenience to the beach and surrounding landmarks. Even though the weather was on the more chilly side, we spent a lot of time on the balconies (watching sunrise and sunset, dolphins, enjoying the waves and eating our meals at the picnic tables).

We had a great stay at the Thunderbird. Great location and easy to find. The indoor pool was a little chilly for us (but was expected since it's not heated), but we loved the hot tubs! The pool table on the upper level was fun for all of us!
The biggest downfall was that the welcome package was a bit lacking - only 1 roll of (cheap) toilet paper, the same for paper towels, and no soap near any of the sinks.
But overall, it was great! And our kids want to go back again next year!

One of the best deals in Nags Head

Honestly a wonderful property that will stay with you long after you've left. Ideal for our party with a number of children that very much enjoyed the pool, hottub, rooftop terrace, pool table and the closeness to the beach. Highly recommended - we absolutely loved it!

This is how you vacation!

We had an amazing stay this year. We come to OBX every year but stay in a different town to mix it up. This year we stayed in Nags Head @ The Thunderbird and this home did not disappoint. We had no issues! This home was fully equipped with everything you would need in a kitchen, access to the beach was unbeatable, and the home was clean & comfortable. The kids loved all the extra space upstairs in the game room or the extra room downstairs plus of course the indoor spa and lap pool as well as the rooftop pool and hot tub. The views were absolutely stunning and the location to amenities was perfect. If we vacation in Nags Head again we will seek out this home, you should too!

A great vacation home

We had 9 adults and 4 kids in this house for a week. There was plenty of space and the kids really enjoyed the multiple pools and hot tubs. The game room/pool table was used multiple times through the week as well. My favorite part was the beautiful view from the roof top and easy access to the beach. We also enjoyed the proximity to the pier!

Wonderful place to stay.

This is a wonderful vacation home for a large family. Everyone was able to pick their own room and the bunk room housed all of the kids.
While we found some areas that needed extra cleaning, we took care of that and enjoyed our week. Just over the sand dune was the ocean making it very easy to get there and enjoy the waves and sand.

The house was just as described. There was something exciting on every floor. It was perfect for us, there were plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms and beds for everyone to spread out and be comfortable. The kitchen level was large enough for us to all get together for meals and games! The house is a bit older and the furniture is outdated but it is comfortable so I was pleased.

We love vacationing here!

This was our 2nd time back at the Thunderbird, and we loved it once again. Our group had 4 adults, 4 toddlers, and 2 dogs... we all slept comfortably and had 2 open bedrooms to spare. Out Bernese loved the rooftop! She liked to look all around. Location is perfect! We enjoyed lots of great restaurants, the pier, the outlets, great grocery stores, etc. Had some beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Loved using the indoor pool and both hotubs, especially the one on the roof. We can’t say enough about how great it is- will be back next year!

Best OBX Vacation EVER

Stayed in "The Thunderbird" this year...the house we used to drive by and dream of staying in! We finally made it happen, and weren't disappointed! The views were amazing from every direction. Perfect for sunrises and sunsets. I can't imagine that any house we will ever stay in again will compare to this one!

The house as so spacious that we often lost track of where other family members were. With two pools, two hot tubs, game rooms and decks, there was more than enough space for everyone! We took 4 vehicles and parking was never an issue, as we utilized the space in front and behind the home.

Loved the fact that it was oceanfront and so close to Jeanette's Pier. We walked there daily. It was also nice to have shops and eateries within walking distance! Being a mile and a half from Duck Donuts was definitely a huge bonus!

There were a few very minor maintenance issues like squeaky mattresses, a dishwasher that wasn't mounted to the counter and drippy showerhead, but nothing that would keep us from staying here again. The house was clean and well maintained. The pools and hot tubs were super clean.

The worst part of our trip was seeing the week come to an end. Thanks for the memories! We will cherish them and our time that we spent at The Thunderbird forever.

We had a great stay at the Thunderbird! Great house, nice and clean, very cozy. The location was perfect for us, everything in walking distance. We walked to the outlets a few times, and Jeanette's pier is awesome! We saw a pair of dolphins everyday, and the last two days saw probably 20 dolphins swimming along the shore all day. You can see everything from the house.. lots of viewpoints, especially from the rooftop. We love that they are dog friendly, and the house is also very kid friendly (we have a 1 year old so the high chair/baby gate came in handy).

Thanksgiving in OBX

This was about the best Thanksgiving ever. We loved the location of the property - right on the beach, but in walking distance of other things like restaurants and shopping. There was plenty of room for the ten of us and with 7 bathrooms, no one had to wait on anyone else! The only negatives were that some of the DVDs did not work and we experienced lots of roach sightings which completely freak me out!

Great week for a vacation!

The weather was wonderful again for us this year! We enjoyed the Thunderbird! The access to the beach was very close and easy to use. The roof was a huge hit for our group with the great views, hot tub and pool. The gazebo was full of sand so we were unable to use it. Our vacation week turned out to be very enjoyable by everyone.

It was the best week ever! There was 17 of us that met up from Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Canada. The house is perfect for that many people. The house is amazing! The day it rained was not a problem, we just played in the indoor pool. It's a great pool for volleyball. All the roof top decks are out of this world. We met the owner, who is a very nice gentleman.

Thunderbird Nags Head

The Thunderbird is an amazing property! The location can't be beat. Easy walk to restaurants and several shops. The home's amenities are awesome...2 pools and a hot tub with a spectacular view from the rooftop. The home itself is dated and could use some updating but overall the location, pools and hot tub make it a wonderful place for a large family gathering.

It was perfect! All of the adults had King size beds and the linens were fantastic. The house was very clean and the layout was perfect for our family gathering. Having the extra refrigerator in the kitchen was a big bonus. Well stocked kitchen and the furniture was comfortable and clean. The laundry room had everything we needed and the bathrooms were very clean. We brought our furry friend and it was so nice to have a room with only 2 steps down to get outside. It made taking her with use so much easier. Big thanks to the owner and to Beach Realty - both very pleasant and helpful!

This was our second year staying at the Thunderbird house and we have booked it again for next spring break! The location is perfect for getting around the OBX area. We love the layout of the home. The view from the rooftop hot tub is by far the best around.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Thunderbird. So great to have the pools as options. The views from the top decks are amazing! Our only complaint was the beachfront deck is buried by sand and behind a dune. We did not expect that, and we love the beachfront decks. Nonetheless, we would highly recommend this property!

We had a great time in this house. You can't beat oceanfront beach access. We loved the space and the amenities of this house. It was not the best decorated house I ever stayed in, and the furniture was a bit worn. The rooftop hot tub was fantastic, as was in indoor lap pool. We experienced a tropical storm our first two days of vacation, but the indoor pool helped us through. Some updated TV's would be an upgrade for some rooms (pool table room, and downstairs den). The front speakers in the main living room were blown out. The ceiling leaked between the living room and the dining room when it rained hard. It sounds like a lot of complaining, but we did have an excellent time. Mainly = the sheer amount of space available in this house made sure that no one was crowded. we had 14 people inside at once, and we were all content.

Great House For Multiple Families

We had several couples spend a great week at Thunderbird! Spacious and well equipped. We all had privacy and plenty of living areas. The rooftop hot tub is great and we played pool every night! It is our preferred location being close to outlets and Sam And Omie's restaurant! The Gazebo was unusable due to sand and the walk over the high dune was a challenge so maybe not ideal for elderly, handicapped or small ones. A decking walkway would be a good addition. Overall loved Thunderbird!

We had 4 families stay at the Thunderbird over our spring break. Let me just say...we all had a blast! The rooftop view is amazing, especially while soaking in the hot tub with a cold drink! Great location, tons of space and we loved the large kitchen! Already booked it for next spring break!
