Sea Shellter Vacation

It is a very nice home with a great kitchen and great view space from balconies. The location is nicely positioned away from heavy traffic but close to the beach, restaurants, shopping and other islands. It has nice theater, gaming, hot tub and pool features. Our first visit was in 2016 and we have visited another 4 times since. It was a bit "dusty" this visit and it appears tenants have not been as a attentive to the care of the premises on their visits. We are planning another visit.

Our favorite place

We always have a great time at Sea Shellter and we had a wonderful time this past month. I do understand it's towards the end of the season and the house could use a deep cleaning. My biggest gripe was there's some delayed maintenance on items, the gate to the pool wouldn't latch and I was worried about our little guy wandering in (broken hinge) and the dryer was not working properly near the end (probably needs to be replaced). Outside of these things we had a really great time and will be looking to come back in the future. Pool was amazing for the kids and they always do a great job keeping the pool and hot tub clean!

Everything was great except the elevator was not working. I was notified maybe a couple weeks prior to our trip. I didn’t think much of it but the 4flights of steps were a killer! Kitchen and living area is on top level ! Food for 13 for a week and luggage was a bit much. Was not compensated. That being said we actually loved the house and would return (if elevator working) clean and the kitchen is well stocked with Everything you need to cook meals! It was a great stay!

Great Offseason Trip

Beautiful property. We had 14 people, including 6 kiddos and it provided so much space for everyone to have room. Loved the size of the kitchen and dining area for our large group to cook most nights and serve family style meals. Having the hot tub and pool table were great with the cooler weather. Kitchen was well stocked but could probably use a refresh on some of the stocked pans as some weren't useable. One of the refrigerator panels for water dispensing on the front was in need of repair as it had exposed electrical. But outside of those really minor things it was a great stay!

Sea Shellter is one of the best equipped houses we have ever rented. It is designed so well to give everyone space to enjoy the vacation. We had 8 adults and three little guys 1,2 and 3. The house could use a good fall cleaning after a busy summer of rentals, but was still really nice. Very convenient to walk to the beach and the pool is a great plus too.

This was a great place for 4 families.

House was big enough the kids had their own area downstairs and the adults were able to hang out upstairs on the porches and kitchen area. Each bathroom only had two towels so I would make sure you have extra for the week. Lots of bikes to have fun on and pool area was good as well.

Sea Shellter was wonderful! t\The house was just as pictured. Had plenty of space to spread out, kids enjoyed the pool, easy walk to beach, well equipped kitchen, king sized comfortable beds and more! the younger grandkids enjoyed the upper play room.
Only thing to "complain" about: the master shower tiles could use a little extra cleaning.

We were a family of 10, 4 generations, ages 2 to 81 and this house was absolutely perfect for us? We have probably rented 20 different houses over the years and this one was, by far, the most well equipped and well maintained house. You can really tell the owners put money back into the place by the updates. Thanks to the owners for allowing us to spend the most amazing week at their house.

Family Reunion

We had 15 people from all over the country for a family reunion. The house was wonderful. Lots of space. We were able to gather upstairs and talk while the kids were down stairs playing games. Great location close to beach and fishing pier.

Spring Break 2021

Enjoyed our spring break here! The house was very clean and well kept. Very spacious for our party of eleven. The kids had fun. The kitchen was very organized and well stocked with utensils and appliances. Bikes came with the house which the kids had a blast with. The captain’s loft was a hit. The hot tub was an added asset. I only wish the pool was open, but understand that most of the rental properties don’t open their pool till May. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!!!

Plenty of space

I would say the house is well designed to host multiple families. It has plenty of space for kids, parents and grand parents. We went out there during our Christmas vacation. The kitchen and main hall are huge. The surprise was game/theatre room on the ground floor and lookout room on the top-floor. Kids had a great time. Our mother enjoyed elevator as she didn't have to climb the floors. Our recommendation is to visit this house anytime during the year, come with a large family/friends and enjoy it's large space.

Beach Bliss

Sea Shellter is an outstanding, fabulous home in a fantastic location! It was perfect in every way! Layout is wonderful, four master suites with their own private exits in and out of the house! Plenty of space even for a large family to spread out in and not get under foot of one another! Did I say beautiful? The house is most certainly stunning and comfortable, it invites you to totally relax! The amenities were perfect from the pool to that 8 person hot tub, yes please! Our trip was during the fall so kids were in school and working from the wifi and some adults had a day to work here and there, and S.S. provided enough space even for that, not to mention no problems with the wifi! The owners have thought of everything, from bikes, wagons, tents, buckets, every utensil for cooking, by far the best stocked home! The only thing that was missing was a paper towel holder, so I bought one and left it at the house as my contribution. Just a little thank you, because we felt so well cared for at S.S.
Thanks Beach Realty and a special thanks to the owners, FABULOUS!

Summer in an Uncertain Year

This beach house is awesome and situated in a great location. It’s away enough from busy traffic but stores, sights, mall are easily accessed. The beach is just a walk away. The house has an awesome den with a bar wet bar setup! Finally, we thoroughly enjoyed the swimming pools and other amenities.

From the moment we walked in the door, we were blown away at how beautiful and clean the house was! This year we thought would of course be a bit different because of COVID but we had the BEST time! We are people that like to go out and do things but this whole week we stayed in the house And had so much fun because it had EVERYTHING we needed! I mean, what more do you need??? Pool, hot tub, screened in porch, multiple refrigerators, a huge family dining room table, beautiful large kitchen, elevator, and more! Walking distance to the beach and very close to the public parking area if you want to drive your car over there with your beach stuff! Highly recommended, you won’t be disappointed! We can’t wait to go back To Sea Shellter again!

OBX Vacation Fall 2019

i would definitely recommend Sea Shellter to OBX vacationers. The property description was accurate in all areas but in real life the home was even better than the pictures showed! The property was clean and well maintained except for a pile of dirt that was left directly in front of the basement door. I paid $400 in advance to have the pool heated and the weather was very warm so the pool seemed chilly. We just happened to be in the pool Tuesday afternoon when the pool maintenance guy came and we mentioned to him that we felt the pool should be warmer. He checked it and came out and said "I turned it up at little." Evidentally the heater had not been on because almost immediately warm water started flowing in and then the pool became divine!!! We lost 3 days of pool heat due to employee error but we still had to pay for it.

We rented this house for several reasons,the 4 master bedrooms, the fantastic kitchen, and the short distance to Fishheads! Our group was 10 adults and all had a great time and commented on what a great house this is! There were a couple of small annoyances, (ice maker, leaky hot tub) but nothing to take away from our time in the OBX! We got married at Bodie Island Lighthouse on Oct 3! I hope we can stay here again in the future!

We had a great time here. Our family group included 8 adults and 7 kids and the house was perfect for our group. The pool and hot tub were sparkling clean and everything was in working order. One of our group has knee issues so the elevator was a must-have and greatly appreciated. We loved seeing the full moon over the ocean from the rooftop deck. Beach access was easy. Bath towels are included but beach towels are not so plan to bring your own. We hope to return!

A true gem on the OBX

Fantastic vacation house

My family has stayed in this general area of Nags Head many times but this location was the best we have experienced. The pool area, the elevator, the huge bedrooms, the views from the main living area were fantastic. The evenings we spent on the upper sky deck watching the stars and fireworks will always be my favorite memory. My only negative was that the house could have used a coat of paint.

Great house for a big family!

With 14 of us staying under one roof, Sea Shellter was the perfect home. The heated pool, huge kitchen, and all the decks were the biggest hits for our family. The only thing we had trouble with were some of the electronics and weak wifi. However, we the weather was perfect most days so we were able to be out and about most of the time.

Awesome place

We had 19 people staying for most of the week. The house was beautiful! We had a 3 year old who kept us on out toes trying to keep her on only one floor, but everyone enjoyed it. The hot tub, the 6burner range, and the elevator were real hits not to mention the pool table. The weather was on the cool side so the pool wasn't used much but we really loved the house.

Another Great Week at the Beach!

We had a great time at Sea Shellter! It was a great layout and very comfortable for all of us. The door off of each bedroom to the deck was a great bonus and the media space on the first floor was very cozy.
The kitchen was well stocked and it was nice to have the owner's manuals handy for reference for the appliances and the TV and DVD player. There were plenty of dishes, serving dishes and silverware. The cookware was fine but could be updated. The refrigerators in the kitchen were the first ones we have had in any rental that got cold very quickly and stayed cold, that was great and the ice makers kept up to!
The beach access and the lifeguard right there are fantastic. The walk is probably a minute and the ramp up the dune is so nice for those who have mobility issues. The beach cart and chairs in the garage made our time by the ocean even more relaxing, one less thing to worry about.
All in all, this was a great trip. Beach Realty was very responsive to the one call we made about a broken wrung on the pool ladder and it was repaired the next day. They called us to make sure things were going well, which was a nice touch. It was clear this home is well cared for given the attention to detail and the maintenance of it which was easy to see.

Great Vacation Spot

The house was spacious and clean upon arrival. The kitchen was beautiful, but the pots/pans were extremely well used. The dual refrigerators on the top floor were great for such a large group. The location was great. Not too far from the beach and other activities. They also had two beach carts that really helped out. The pool was clean and a good size.

I would highly recommend this property to all my friends and family. We've been coming to OBX for 30 years and this was the nicest home we've rented. Plenty of room, very clean, warm pool, beautifully decorated and well equipped. Ages 70 to 14 and we all loved it. Really enjoyed sunrise, sunset and watching deer in the backyard.

House is beautiful and perfect for multiple families. Has entertainment for kids (pool toys, sand toys, DVDs). I seriously can't think of one negative thing about the house! Beach is in quick walking distance as is the outer banks fishing pier! Grocery store near by and a few good restaurants without all the car traffic. Love love love this place- see you next year!

We arrived to an extremely clean house ready for use. We had a fantastic vacation in the Sea Shellter. We used the hot tub every night and the pool once. It was a little chilly in October. The elevator was great help for our 88 yr old grandmother that came along. Having 2 fridges was great since there were 13 of us in the house. The view of the ocean was great from the decks. My friend fell in love with the hammock swing on the 2nd level. The kids enjoyed watching movies in the theater room area at night. We cannot wait to come to the OBX again and will probably try to get this house again.

We enjoyed the house a lot. Well furnished. Excellent layout. There wre a number of light switches ad all wee marked, which made it easier to find the correct switch.

This was the first time I rented a house with an elevatr,and I'd never rent one without an elevator again. It made it so mucheasier taking things to the top level.

Fantastic Family Home, Sub-par rental management company

For the first time in the 20 yrs we have been coming to the Outer Banks, the entire family was in agreement that we would rent the same property next summer. And this decision was made on Day 2 of our stay.

The kitchen is dream - commercial grade stove top, ovens and range hood. Well appointed with pots and pans in decent condition - plenty of utensils along with 2 fridges, 2 sinks and 2 dishwashers make this ideal for a bigger family.

Kids were a big fan of the pool, and the beach access is an easy walk. 2nd floor outdoor shower is genius - close to bedrooms on 2nd floor.

Only negative(s): Beach house needs to be equipped with keyless entry to avoid having to travel all the way to milepost 2 to pick up a key. On top of the management office being over 15 miles away from the rental, very few rentals managed by this company were ready on time. The management office was literally overflowing with customers trying to get into properties that should have been ready, but were not.

Keyless entry would at least eliminate the need to stop at their office both on the way in, and the way out. Since we can now exit the Outer Banks through Manteo, traveling to the rental office is highly inconvenient, as well as quite stressful due to the poor service.

Late summer stay

Sea Shellter fit our family well. There was plenty of room to spread out & not all be in the same room. We liked the den on the middle level as an additional room to hang out or watch tv. Kitchen was fairly well equipped. The pool was enjoyed. The location was great. Elevator worked well.

Very Nice House. Well maintained. I loved that all the Master Bedrooms are identical with regard to bathroom, closet and etc. The only problem I would caution potential renters about is that the photograph of the Beach is VERY MISLEADING since it doesn't show the moat that you cannot cross. The Beach Access is at the intersection South of the House. It's 400+ feet as indicated. The photograph which is 'As the Crow Flies' is extremely misleading though. Cannot believe I fell for it.

Above average stay at the Sea Shellter!

The Sea Shellter house was large and beautiful, perfect for our group of 3 families. Having two refrigerators, dishwashers, and coffee pots was perfect.Everything was clean and the kitchen was perfectly stocked with everything we needed. The walk to the beach was further than I had anticipated from reading the listing, keep that in mind if elderly family walking. Great life-guarded beach. Pool was awesome. Media room TV had large green spot in middle of screen, difficult to watch tv. Only one bike was rideable in the garage, and there were many in there, which was a disappointment. Not really possible to play basketball as the driveway is a very steep slant and the cars can't be parked on the road in front of home so really no room to play if you have more than one car. A much better welcome package is needed. 4 free passes offered to fishing pier but no where said where to find them, etc. Had to call office to figure out. Would definitely stay again.

We had a beautiful weather week and the fish were biting. Just what we were hoping would happen.
Thank you for the pier passes. They were used heavily and everyone had a chance to enjoy themselves thanks to the Johnson's.
This was our 5th time at this location and hopefully we can return many more times.
