The beach house was fine with two exceptions. The on-off knob to lamp in the living room and to a lamp in one of the bedrooms was missing so the lamps could not be used. The TV operation was not straightforward and the TV package did not include sports channels like ESPN or the MLB baseball network.

We've rented the same house for over 30 years and three owners. The house has been kept up and is in a great location. We like the amenities(supplied linens/gift bag) and the pool and hot tub. Overall, an ideal house. We'll be back next year.

This was our second stay at A Salty Piece of Land. The house works very well for our multy-family vacation. The pool is a wonderful spot to hang out anytime but especially after a long day at the beach. It is well equipped and clean. The only thing I would suggest is some new cushions for the couch. They are not very "cushiony" for the older bones in our party.Would rent again.

We had a good vacation and liked the house. It is well-appointed and comfortable. I highly recommend replacing the stairwell carpet. It is dirty and gross. Also, maybe a larger flat panel TV upstairs.

Simply a gem

We've stayed at Salty Piece of Land 8 times now. It’s always a pleasure to spend a week here.

The location and views are unmatched by most places except those right on the beach. Easy walk to be the beach, which is not overrun the same way as other areas.

The pool, although smaller than others in the area is welcoming experience after a day at the beach with a shaded area to enjoy for part of the day.

We love the openness and the size of the rooms and bedrooms. The new hot tub is great as is the new refrigerator. There are adequate kitchen supplies for just about any meal prep situation.

Although it’s close to paradise, there are three gripes that we have:

The beds. The mattresses have not been replaced in quite a long time. I’m pretty sure the 3rd floor is 20+ years old. The two masters really should be replaced with king size. There is plenty of room, and the cost compared to queens is insignificant. This alone would prevent us from renting for more than one week. One of the twin beds should be replaced with a full. It might be fine for 12 and under, but it’s not quite sufficient for teens or adults.

The bathroom vent fans. They’ve surpassed their usable life. The bearings are shot and when running, they sound like the idle of a diesel truck. It would be tough to take a shower and not wake someone who is sleeping.

The icemaker. Yes it’s a new fridge, but it makes ice WAY TOO SLOW. Granted, it’s somewhat expected since it’s empty (and therefore warms up fast when you open the door) when we arrive. But even when it is full and cold, it barely adds to the ice bin over night. Our solution is to buy 30 pounds of ice. We put 20 lbs in the freezer and 10 lbs in the fridge when we do our initial shopping. One other option would be to bring ice trays since none are provided. I’d recommend 4 or 6 depending on your ice usage.

A nice place to stay

Nice house with great views. Pool area is very small but there were only 6 adults and 2 children in our group so it was ok. Grill was not fit for use but we did fine without it. The house was not spotlessly clean but also not dirty. About what you expect for a rental. The property is super close to the grocery store and other shops and most importantly, VERY close to the beach...a 2 minute walk at most. I would recommend this property if you're flexible in your expectations.

Another great year!

This is our second year in this home. I think what we enjoy most about this home is the ocean views. The ships watch room is a great place to spend time eating, playing card games during happy hour, or even reading. The decks outside offer beautiful water views and over looks A large field of vegetation and animals that are fun to watch in the mornings and evenings.

Very clean, beautiful home with amazing view. No need to walk to the beach for the sunrise when you can watch from the deck. Pool was a huge hit for the kids. I was extremely pleased with this house. The biggest reason was the location. We were only 3 houses away from the beach access which gave us a 2-3 minute walk. I want to add this house included a little pool which was perfect for the children and a private hot tub. It was also moderately clean with moderately comfortable beds. I plan to re-book this house for summer of 2018.

Unforgettable Hurricane Matthew

We were unable to make it to our rental until the OBX opened to tourists on Tuesday afternoon. I thought about cancelling the trip altogether, after being stranded in various hotels for three nights. I am so glad that I didn't. The rental, " A Salty Piece of Land" was immaculate, spacious, and provided an unforgettable vacation. The hot tub was an excellent ending to each day that we were able to spend on the beach. We were so pleased that we reserved an even larger property for next year. I would highly recommend this rental for a family memory filled vacation. We loved it !!!

Great house, close to beach access!

We had a great time at this house! Our party included 2 families with a total of 5 young children. The house was at the end of a court so it was great for the kids riding their bikes and scooters around the end of the drive way. Also, beach access was really close and easy to get to. The only thing that we think would have been nice would be for the house to have beach umbrellas for guests to use. We have rented several OBX vacation homes and this is the first that didn't have beach equipment which takes up a lot of room in the car when traveling with kids/large families.

A Great Stay At A Salty Piece Of Land

We had a great vacation in the OBX! The house was in great shape and thanks to the nature preserve behind it there was a beautiful view of the ocean despite not being right at the dune. The beach was just a few minute walk and was never crowded. All in all, our family had a great time!

Relaxing week

My wife and I had a wonderful time in the OBX at A Salty Piece of Land. Everything was as described in the listing and we would be happy to stay there again. I would recommend a small fence to block some of the pool filter noise at the pool as it runs constantly. The pool is smaller than I anticipated, but was perfect for the two of us. The cleaning crew definitely needs to spend a little more care in cleaning as I didn't appreciate finding prior guests hairs in multiple spots in the master bath.

Great location, great view!

Nice house, very clean. My only suggestion is more living room seating, not enough comfortable seats for 8 people to watch TV, also the third floor Master Ste did not have a TV, like the 2nd floor Mstr suite, which would have been nice.

Beautiful View!!

Loved our stay at a Salty Piece of Land. The view from the living room was absolutely stunning. Our ONLY complaint is that there was no beach equipment, at all! Travelling from NY it is difficult to pack an umbrella and chairs in addition to everything else. We left 2 chairs and 2 boogie boards. Hope they stay there!

The views from A Salty Piece of Land are awesome! Not all property owners provide beach equipment to meet all guests' needs. We encourage guests to review listed outdoor amenities for the property, and if something desired is missing, consider visiting one of our equipment rental companies, such as Ocean Atlantic Rental to have the convenience of use without the hassle of additional packing!

Cottage was clean plenty of room for our family of 8 to move around and enjoy ourselves. We have stayed in this cottage before and the people assisting us were very nice and helful. Only complaint was hot tub had to be worked on several times
All in all we will continue renting this cottage v when come to corrolla. So convent to everything you need. Thanks for making our vacation GREAT

Pretty good. Traffic was bad. Maybe have check in days fri, sat,sun and mon since more hotels and houses are being built. Driveway was tight and could only back into. Good for 1 maybe 2 cars.

Traffic can certainly be challenging on turnover days at the Outer Banks. The rewards of unobstructed views and easy access to the beach from A Salty Piece of Land are great payoffs though! We're always looking for ways to reduce the impact, and appreciate your suggestions.

Salty Piece of Land Review

We had a great time. The house was in a location that was close to the beach. There is a shopping area across from Section entrance which was convenient. Grocery store within walking distance. Tours to see horses available there, too. The house was well maintained and again, great location.
