"Gypsea Rose" is a historical, classic, cottage featuring a hot tub and rec room for your enjoyment, as well as a gas grill and outdoor seating for those nights that you want to stay in! Take an early morning jog or leisurely walk along the paved bike paths to explore the nearby towns such as Duck and Southern Shores. If you are looking for a romantic getaway, or small family vacation, you will not regret staying at "Gypsea Rose" and we are certain this will become your home away from home!

Amazing location and ocean access!

We loved this oceanfront home. So comfortable and beachy. The sunrises are gorgeous, the beds comfortable. Lots of books and comfy seating. The hot tub is amazing. The location felt central.

We did trip a fuse but within a half hour of notifying the rental company, someone was there to fix it. The fuse box is hidden behind the flag hanging in the game room, in case you need to know! We also asked for the hot tub to be cleaned, and again, someone was there within the hour and took care of it.

Wonderful Beach House

We had a great time at Gypsea Rose! The on line photos & descriptions are accurate. The house is spacious & comfortable. It was very clean. The beds were very comfy, as was the furniture. If you like to read, bring reading lights with you. The oceanfront location was fabulous. We enjoyed the deck. One downside: We couldn't use the jetted soaker tub in the upstairs bedroom; there wasn't enough hot water to fill the tub & cover the jets. Therefore the jets couldn't be turned on. Overall the house was wonderful. We'd definitely come back. Pro tip: Order from Southern Shores Pizza.

We had a wonderful time in this house. The location is great, close to everything and the oceanfront is OCEANFRONT!

The beach is right off the porch and the view from the deck and inside the house is fabulous. And it was great we could bring our dogs with us. House has an interesting layout, is well maintained and we had no complaints. There are plenty of books and games to occupy non-beach time.

The only issue we had (which was not really an issue for us) was with the WIFI strength. There is a good signal in the living, family room, deck and kitchen, but there was no signal in the master bedroom and the downstairs bedroom so the televisions in those rooms we unable to stream shows. They need to install a router with better range.

Other than that, everything was perfect. Thanks for a great, relaxing vacation.

Overall good. Excellent proximity to ocean, shops and restaurants. Would rent again. Needed- upgrade bathrooms, uncover steps to beach. Deep sand going to ocean was hard to manage for us old folks. We used the public access. No staples in kitchen. Other properties have had spices, salt,pepper. No instructions for use of tv. Fans and ac were hard to figure out. No electricity in the sun room. Alarm went off from uk origin.

Comfortable Vacation

Comfortable oceanfront home that allows pets, a big plus for us. The home was clean, not fancy with multiple levels and bedrooms. The only drawback were the decks as small children and dogs would be able to fit through the railings and areas where there were no barriers offering a escape route. This is the only reason we would not rent this home again.
We prefer "flat top" homes as we like the simplicity, but they are becoming more difficult to find.

Fabulous Vacation

Lovely home - shows some unattended water damage to bathroom doors. Lighting in smaller bathrooms is poor when using showers. Very nice floor plan if you have multiple families in your group. Very close to ocean. Would definitely book again.

Gypsae Rose Family Fun #6

Our family had another wonderful reunion and beach experience at Gypsae Rose this year! The house was clean as usual and we had a nice variety of weather to enjoy, including cool enough on two days to use the outdoor hot tub. Management had replaced a worn deck/patio door with a new door that worked very well. Very happy with all aspects of the house and management.

Old School rental that surpassed our expectations. 7 of us stayed 1 week right on the beach and had a blast. close to everything you might need. if we stay again, it will be "gypsea rose."

Gypsea Rose: A Pleasant rental in Sumer and Fall

We rented Gypsea Rose house in Southern Shores Outer Banks NC In June and in September and found it very pleasant. It is an old house compared to the many houses along the beach but it serviceable, comfortable and provided a very nice rental for the family. The hot tub was convenient and clean, and in good working shape and the older children loved it. The walk to the beach is short and accessible. Inside had most everything that we needed and in working condition. The grill was a bit worn by the end of summer but it worked well, and had a propane tank that was full to provide a few fun grilled dinners on the beach. Inside is again old with knotty pine but we liked the rustic feeling. There is a game room downstairs, and a very comfortable "apartment" as well. Bottom line is that we plan to rent Gypsea Rose again.

Vintage Charm

Vintage property oozing with charm. Close beachfront location cannot be beat. Well air-conditioned and reasonably clean. Nonfunctional in-kitchen microwave, however working unit provided in adjacent room. Otherwise, all appliances in working order. Cozy and comfortable. We loved our stay and would definitely return.

OBX Stay June 2021

Overall, we had a nice stay. The location was excellent, but the house was older and smelled musty. We had issues with the dryer (it didn't work) and the door leading out to the back deck (was very difficult to close). I was disappointed in the bathrooms, especially the one in the downstairs suite where my family slept. The showers were very tiny and the bathrooms didn't feel clean. Many of us showered in the outdoor shower because of this. The upstairs bedrooms seemed nice and the furniture was comfortable. We enjoyed the large dining room table and the larger family room. If we stayed again, it would definitely be for the location, which can't be beat.

Annual Family Beach Reunion GREAT STAY

This was our family's fifth consecutive year renting here. We love that it is spacious, yet cozy so that family has a good combination of private space and gathering space. The new computer "bar" at the back window that overlooks the beach was wonderful! We appreciate the easy transition from the house to deck to beachfront. Happy that we can have our dogs with us. We had a few maintenance issues with good response. Surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom floors needed better cleaning (front of cupboard doors and drawers in kitchen, corners of bathroom floors) but generally very clean. The sprayer you provided for the hose was very helpful, but fyi, it sprays really hard and is likely to remove paint on the deck as it didn't have a gentle spray option. We went to Tale of the Whale, artist coops, ordered Pizza Stop with fast delivery, rented bikes for riding around the neighborhood, also Cornhole. Love the turtle pond off of Circle Drive! Thank you for helping us celebrate family time again this year!

Really liked the property as far as the views/location. Outside deck area oceanfront was phenomenal...that’s where we spent much of our time. Loved the privacy of the hot tub area but were disappointed by the temperature of the water.... needed to be hotter but seemed like an older tub. The house was comfortable and a very unique setup.... could use a bit of updates in the kitchen and bathrooms. With all that said we enjoyed our week there and would go back!!!
