Wonderful retreat!
We enjoyed the perfect sound front setting with private, expansive deck to view incredible sunsets! Spacious and well cared for home. Wonderful bedrooms and baths! Family room furniture needs some updating but still comfortable. Our dog loved watching the deer, rabbits, and birds from the deck. Good communication with the owners. We hope to return soon.

Amazing location and comfortable home
This was our first time staying at Family Tradition and we had such a wonderful stay. The location is amazing -- right on the sound with a dock that we used for kayaking and SUPing and a few minutes walk to the beach. The beds were all very comfy and the house got such great light. We had everything we needed in the kitchen for cooking dinners. I can't say enough about the location! The deck was also so nice for hanging out in the evenings. We had a group of 6 adults and 3 kids and were all very comfortable

Make Family Tradition your family tradition!
Our family loves Family Tradition. It is the perfect house to enjoy a week at the beach. It is located sound front where you can enjoy the sunset every evening but only a few minutes walk to the beach. The kitchen is fully equipped and the accommodations are great.

2 a weeks at the Beach!
Weve been coming here for years. This year we hit a weather pattern low the whole vacation. The Sound was blown out, it was foggy and chilly, but you cant beat the view and we left very relaxed!

Weve been coming to Duck as a family for 10years and to this house for 6yrs. This location is perfect for our love of paddle boarding, kayaking and sunset gazing on the sound side and beach walking, sunning, and swimming in the Oceanside. Our ages range from 27 to 85 and its perfect for everyone!

Great Week at Family Tradition
Wonderful home where we was able to gather three generations for a wonderful week. The house was warm and inviting. We enjoyed family time in the great room and sharing meals ar the large dining table. The views from the deck were amazing of the sound. We enjoyed the beautiful sunsets. The dock was great for fishing and launching the kayaks. It was a very short walk to the beach where everyone enjoyed the spring weather. Great soundfront location!
Would highly recommend Family Tradition for a stay on the Outer Banks. This was our second time at the house, and I would definitely rent again. It was wonderful to wake up to soundfront views, but only be a 5 min, or less, walk to the ocean. The house is nicely appointed and the layout allows guests to congregate easily, or spread out and have their own space.

Loved Family Tradition!
This was definitely one of the best houses we've stayed in - have been coming to OBX for 20+ years. The sound views and proximity to beach can't be beat! A Wonderful Family Tradition
This was our 5th year staying in this lovely home. As the family grows older and we are now empty nesters, having a whole week of family time is even more precious. Our 14 1/2yr lab even made the trip and got to splash in the waves one last time. We look forward to coming back!

Serenity lives here
We are repeat guests here and love the Sanderling neighborhood. This home has everything we need - gorgeous sound views, dock for crabbing, choice of master suites depending on whether we bring additional guests. Sanderling is ideally located near fine dining, shops and a great launching point for trips north or south along the OBX. Lovely home in our favorite OBX neighborhood.

Reviving the Soul
Our week couldn't have been better. October is our new favorite vacation time. The beach was all ours, the weather was amazing, the locals were relaxed and helpful and we're absolutely going back!

We've stayed here 4 times!!!
We really enjoy this home because it is right on the sound but just a really short walk to the ocean so you get the best of both worlds. They kayaks are a great addition and we love the dock and the sunsets on the sound. You just can't beat it for the location. And it's a dog friendly home. We love that!!

Great Location and House
Sanderling is the perfect location for us to stay soundside; enjoy the sunsets but be able to quickly walk across the street to the beach. We love the quiet here and being able to walk to nice restaurants. Easy to drive north or south to visit the rest of the area. The house is lovely and we enjoyed having a BR/Bath suite on the main level, since it's just the two of us. We particularly enjoyed curling up on the sofa in the den to watch movies at night. We've already reserved for next year in the Spring and hope we might be able to catch crabs off the dock next year if it's warmer. The back porch is delightful!

We're Going to Make This a "Family Tradition"
We've been vacationing in the Outer Banks for the past 16 years and this was the first time we stayed on the Sound. The grandparents were able to enjoy watching everyone in the water while comfortably doing puzzles in the house. The house has 2 kayaks and we also rented 2 paddleboards for the week. The Sanderling Inn is very close by and 2 of us went for massages! The house was very comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked and the sunsets are BEAUTIFUL! This was one of our favorite trips to the Outer Banks!
