Description

It's the 'little things' that make a home special. It's true of both residential houses and vacation homes. That's what makes this home so very special. Besides being so close to the sound and being able to see it, the owners have provided life's little luxuries too. Luxuries such as new extra deep mattresses (which will be made in preparation for your arrival), a stove with double oven, refrigerator with icemaker, TVs that will allow for easy game hookup, a TV in every bedroom, a baby/dog gate for every level, along with a music system for CD's. This home also boasts an air purification system with a unit installed on both levels. And because they know that there is 'heated' debate as to which grill is better, gas or charcoal, they have thoughtfully provided both for your enjoyment. You will also find plenty of beach chairs already provided for your trips to the beach. The home is approximately 600 yards to the ocean for that day in the sun.

Cozy Cottage on the Sound

This is a nice cottage for a few days in Duck at a reasonable price. The neighborhood is quiet and the house has a peaceful vibe that makes for a relaxing getaway. The kitchen is well-equipped and the beds are comfortable. Would have liked a shorter walk to town and easier access to the oceanside, but in cooler weather, neither walk was difficult and parking in town and at the beach was easy.

2023 vacation review

It would be great if the trees were trimmed back. This would allow a better view of the sound side from the upper deck. Having all the streaming channels was great too!! The kitchen was complete with all cooking utensils and beds were comfortable, a big plus!!

Another Fine Stay at Christie

Our second stay at Christie, we still love the location and the peace and quiet. When we arrived the dishwasher was still running, not sure what was up with that. Also the main bathroom's toilet was running, called Beach Realty and they had local plumber fix the flushing mechanism.

Keyless entry is nice. We were able to check in at the designated time. Community pool and pier were very nice. Community tennis court was nice until one of the net posts was broken. Hopefully that will be fixed quickly. The general living spaces were clean, however there were cobwebs in the vaulted ceiling and in the windows. There was also cereal under the couches. Overall, we had a great stay and would consider booking this house again.

Our family had a great time at this location. Home was spacious. Convenient to the community pool and beach area. Home was ready an hour before check-in.
Only improvement would be, home needs a good cleaning. Previous guests possibly didn't put out trash, so we had 2 out of 3 full cans from the start.
We would use this location again in the future.

Another Wonderful Vacation

This was my 9th consecutive time renting Christie. Had a great time with the best weather we have ever had. This house has everything you need or want, close to the docks for crabbing, a 2 minute ride to the beach and so much more. I am alrady planning my vacation for next year at Christie!

This house is in a good location, and while it's not beachside, it's very close to the private neighborhood beach (5 min drive across the street), and they provide a parking pass. The house is on the sound side, and we caught several nice sunsets by walking down to the dock. The foliage prevents you from seeing much of the sound at all from the house, though. Overall the house was very clean and maintained, inside.
A small note - could use a good powerwash. Lots of spiderwebs in the garage and on the deck, along with debris from the trees. The deck furniture wasn't very suitable for sitting on. I would have like to sit on the deck more, and enjoy the evening breezes.
The location was ideal, close to town, which is very cute, and has a very nice waterfront boardwalk, and the local park has a kayak launch (soundside).
This was our first beach rental, and the property agents made everything easy, good communication and friendly staff.

A lovely quiet place to chill and relax

Christie was a lovely quiet place was to chill and relax. Great views of the sound at sunset from the pier, not far away from Duck and the shops and eateries. We have been staying in Duck area for past 5 years for our OBX vacations, we have already booked Christie for next year.

Great retreat on the sound

We love Christie -- it's a beautiful location, so peaceful up in the trees right next to the sound. The house is very comfortable and it was great for our family. Our only small suggestion might be to include a hose, esp to hose off the bugs from the 2nd fl decks (they were unusable b/c of the spiders and midges this year). But all and all we've loved it. Thanks!

House was in a great location. We enjoyed the beautiful sunsets on the sound side a short walk from the house. Very quiet area. Pool was great. The inside of the house was very clean and in good shape. The outside areas were not well kept and basically unusable for us unless they received a major cleaning. This house would not be suitable for elderly people who have difficulty with steps. Vacation rental management was very helpful. Our Keurig coffee maker was not working and a new one was quickly delivered.

Wonderful week

Our family decided to stay in Christie in the Tuckahoe development in Duck. The home was clean, had every amenity we needed and was comfortable for all of us including our 2 dogs.We especially enjoyed the community pool and often had it to ourselves. It was a short walk or ride to beach access and, being a private access, was not crowded.

Best Secret in the OBX!

As in my previous reviews, this house is one of the best secrets in the OBX. (If I keep writing good reviews, it won't be! :) LOL Soundside dock is just a 500ft walk and the beach is just a 2 minute car ride to the private parking area. With the upgraded appliances and new furniture, this is a top rental property for the price. It is a great bargain and very close to downtown Duck. I highly recommend.

We had a terrific time! We LOVED the house and the whole experience was just great. It was our first time on the sound side and we ended up loving it -- esp the sunsets and proximity to the dock. The house was exactly as described and we found it super comfortable. Lastly, in addition to the great spot, we really appreciated the terrific customer service from Beach Reality -- from the super quick response to tiny questions to the tv guy who not only helped with the cable, but also helped us look for our dog who had run off, everyone was so helpful and lovely. Thanks to everyone for a great vacation!

We would have liked some potholders, and matches to light the outside candle. Several lights were out, including the kitchen light, so I feel like the maintenance could have been better. The home is nice and comfortable.

This is the second time we stayed in the OBX and specifically the Christie. You really can't beat what you get for the price. Nice house, pet friendly, short walk to the sound.... little walk to the community pool, longer walk to the beach. We loved staying here both times and have fond memories.

A fantastic value by the sound

House is in a GREAT location. To preface my comments, the house is pet friendly and we do bring a dog, but the carpets could stand to be replaced. We have rented this unit 3 years in a row and not sure the carpeting has been cleaned on a regular basis. That said, the property is in a great location for the money and for the things we like to do. Has a private community dock for crabbing and a private parking area for the beach so you don't have to fight the crowds in the public parking areas. With a little TLC, this house would be a 5 star rental.
