Perfect for beach-loving families or couples that want an affordable way to enjoy the beach. And you can do just that via the boarded walkway connecting you to one of the best beaches in town.

Whether you've come to surf or simply get away for some time at the shore, you will have everything you need to enjoy all that South Nags Head has to offer. Located just south of Whalebone Junction, where you will find Jennette's Fishing Pier and several conveniences for shopping, fun, and food.

A short drive south along NC 12 through the breathtaking sand dunes of Coquina Beach and past the Bodie Island Lighthouse leads you to the famous Oregon Inlet. Located at the foot of the newly constructed Marc Basnight Bridge, spanning 2.8 miles with incredible views from 90 feet high. On the other side, spend some time exploring the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge or drive onward to Hatteras to explore the quaint seaside barrier island towns along the way.

After a day of exploration, come home to the comforts of your beach cottage with amenities, including an outdoor shower, and a covered deck for enjoying your favorite beverage as you listen to the sounds of the ocean just 30 yards away.

Indoors the knotty pine walls welcome you in for a relaxing retreat as you refresh for the next day's adventure.

Clean, comfortable cottage, only steps from the Ocean.

The property description was accurate regarding location, layout and amenities and was clean. Our family has been vacationing in OBX for the last 44 years. Nags Head has always been the only place where I can ever truly completely relax. That being said, this was the first time that I could not truly relax. The reason was, when we arrived we found the cottage was infested with Palmetto bugs. I have a real phobia of bugs of any kind. My husband left messages for the rental agency, who reached out to us the next day and then contacted the owner, who immediately authorized treatment for the bugs. The exterminator treated the cottage the next day. It took several days, after spraying the cottage, before we no longer saw the bugs actively moving around inside the cottage and my husband removed numerous bugs we found dead in the cottage. It wasn't until our last full day in the cottage that we did not see any active Palmetto bugs. I feel any properties offered for rent should be routinely treated for bugs and insects. We also called the rental agency after arriving at the cottage and asked that the overgrowth on the walkway to the steps, the outside shower and outdoor shower area be cut so that we could safely access the outside shower area and walkway without stepping on breyers. This wasn't taken care of until our second last day at the cottage. We actually cut back some of the growth that coming up through the deck. The weather was beautiful. We enjoyed walking the beach, flying kites, reading books on the deck and at the beach and visiting many of our favorite Nags Head restaurants (Old Nags Head Cafe, Sam and Omie's) and even found a few new favorites (Khan's Mongolian Grill, Trio) to add to our list. If it wasn't for the Palmetto bug situation, I would recommend this cottage.

We loved this quiet little bungalow. Easy walk to the beach , clean and had everything we needed for our stay . I would recommend they replace the front door rug as it’s ripped and a tripping hazard and put a rug by the tub and keep a tub mat in the tub as both are slick getting in and out of the tub .

OBX Bucket List Beach Bum Vacation!

Our little bungalow was just perfect! Everything was clean and nice. Kitchen was newly updated and the bathroom was too. Loved the colors in the bathroom. It was so close to the beach I could sit on the porch and hear the waves crashing! The place was perfectly located just outside of the hustle and bustle so we had nice quiet evenings but we could easily walk to restaurants, stores, Jeanette’s Pier, Fat Boys Icecream etc. within 5 minutes! The only thing I would like to see changed would be maybe fix up the outside of the cottage. When you pull up to it, it is unappealing, however the inside is a pleasant surprise!

Bennetts Bungalow Review

This was our first time renting a home, we have always stayed at hotels The home itself was very nice, it was fully equipped and very clean. The staff was pleasant and very helpful. Our main issue was that the description when we rented the home back in March stated a wooden walkway to the beach, there was no walkway and you had to walk up a steep hill of sand which was difficult with carrying the items needed to spend the day at the beach. It was a very difficult trip to the beach, once at the top of the hill you then had to go down a steep hill of very thick sand to get to the beach. It would have been perfect otherwise. It was great as we were able to walk to the pier and spend time there without having to drive. It was always very quiet. I would recommend the company for a rental however based on the experience getting to the beach I would not recommend this particular property. I feel that since there are multiple families using this access to the beach that it would not be costly for the owners to all pay to have a wooden walkway built from the driveway to the top of the hill. We did not do any attractions this visit to the outer banks as we did them a few years ago and just wanted to relax at the beach. The one thing that we did do was go to Duck NC and have lunch at the Aqua overlooking the sound and then Donuts on a Stick for dessert which everyone enjoyed both.

Nothing fancy but a nice clean place to stay real close the beach. The hot water heater didn’t work for one day but beach realty had someone out the day we called it in and had it working . Stuff like that just happens sometimes . We enjoyed our time there and would rent it again.

Very Cozy For This Couple

A much needed vacation for my wife and I. Make no mistake, this is a small cottage, but it's very nicely decorated and a very nice updated kitchen. A clothes washer & dryer would be a great addition. Overall it is a great cottage. And easy walk to the beach. We hope to be able to come back next summer. Bennett's Bungalow will definitely be our first pick.

We had a grea visit. Prob the best property management company we have dealt with. Great communication. The house was as described. 2/1 was perfect size for our needs. Outside shower was a nice feature. Kitchen was well-stocked. House was clean. Furniture was good. Overall, a great place and experience!

We had a fabulous time. We loved the house. It was cozy and comfortable. Sitting on the deck at night listening to the waves crash was magical. Although we were not on the beach, we only had a short walk to a nice beach that was never crowded during our stay.

We had a wonderful time at Bennett's Bungalow. The property is well cared for and had everything we needed! The location with direct access to the beach couldn't be beat! My only suggestion for improvement would be to turn on the a/cs a few hours earlier for the next renters. After it cooled off, though- was perfect!

Love this Beach cottage 4th time renting it.

This cottage means a lot to me. My first time staying here was May 1995. It was known as Southern Comfort back then. It was not as updated as it is now and had this old cottage feel to it. I also stayed here in 1996 & 2017. The updated interior and exterior looks nice and should make her a great rental for many years to come. This cottage is like a 2nd home to me. My only concern is the bathtub has a dip in the floor and when taking a shower it threw me off balance a few times. Other than that minor concern. I will always give Bennet's Bungalow 5 stars.

I loved it, sad that dogs aren't allowed next year.

Perfect location for us. I like the open floor plan. The only thing I would change is the coffee maker, it leaked so it was annoying but everything else was great. We had everything we needed in the kitchen which was one of my worries. I would definitely like to go back but they aren't allowing dogs anymore, which is so disappointing. I loved Bennett's Bungalow, you'll love it too :-)

Cute little house, quick climb over the dunes to the ocean. I might suggest a pantry area for guest’s food, but otherwise the kitchen was well equipped. The cleaning service missed quite a bit of sand in areas, but that was easily addressed.

Very uoset with owners decision to not let us rent next year because they stated we left the house in bad condition..not the case. Wouldn't recommend staying in this place.The beds are like paper towels and the fly problem is beyond control.

Excellent little cottage that was situated only one house back from the dune. Well stocked with everything we needed plus it was pet friendly. My only complaint is the full size and twin size beds in each room. It would be nice to have at least one queen.

Great Little Place

This place is a little slice of heaven. It is only steps to the beach in a quiet area. We have come here for 4 or 5 years now. The only thing that would be an improvement would be a pull out sofa. would also love to see a smart tv to be able to watch Netflix

Rental #155, My home away fm home

Back in the old old 1990's this house was called Southern Comfort. It white with blue trim. The house has gone through a nice remodel and has been Bennett's Bungalow since the late 1990's I believe. I stayed here in 1995, 96' and now 2017. This house holds many many good memories for me. The house has had some kitchen and bathroom remods. My kids and I loved this place. I hope to return again in 2019. I always have to save up the money for trips like this. My only complaint is that the steps were gone and you had to climb the sand dune to get to the beach. The steps leading to the beach need replaced or uncovered if there still under that dune.

I love this house. It's perfect for me, my husband and dachshund. The beach is not crowded and my dog is allowed on the beach all day (she loves to people watch from her chair.) It's not front row, but is only a few steps to the sand. Each year the owner has done something to improve the house. We will definitely be back for a 6th year

Proximity to the beach. Beach is like private beach. Far enough from the crowd however close to the all kinds of shopping and entertainment. Walking distance to the restaurants. Quiet neighborhood. Lots of fun and places to see. Overall i "wound NOT" recommend this property to anybody because i want to be able to book it again for myself for the next summer trip, LOL. Totally relaxing and super nice, simple and extra clean. 50 feet from the ocean and super clean beach. Great rental company, professional, courteous, knowledgeable. FANTASTIC place to be. Lots and lots to see and experience. Fantastic local cuisine.

Long awaited Memorial Getaway

It was a nice, quiet but a little chilly experience but I guess that's to be expected for the middle of May. Met a lot of nice people and found out the owner's of the house in front of the Bennett's Bungalow are from our area here in Maryland. Overall, a very good experience.

Our romantic weekend getaway..

My husband wanted to get away for a quiet and romantic long weekend. We were surprisingly very impressed and completely satisfied! Our stay at Bennett's Bungalow was quant and perfect for our getaway!. The space is lovely and warm. It was immaculate and comfortable. Totally fit the bill. We were a 2 min walk to the beach a spent an entire seating on the water. Great stay and highly recommended.
