Pet Rules & Regulations

Dogs love the Outer Banks! Digging in the sand and chasing in the waves is just as exciting for them as it is for you. The Outer Banks is known for its dog friendly beaches; most OBX beaches allow dogs year-round as long they are on a leash and picked up after. See below for Outer Banks dog rules and regulations by town.

Outer Banks Leash Laws

Leash laws vary according to the town and the time of year you visit. Please direct questions to the local town hall for the most accurate information. Please have your dog's collar on at all times, and ensure that up to date vaccination and identification information is attached.
