Katie Slater is a 26 year old photographer originally from Washington D.C. but currently based on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
She has continued her passion for art after graduating from the University of Virginia with a sculpture and photography degree. Katie credits her style of photography to her education and the inspiration of talented professors. Throughout her time at UVA, Katie only shot on film cameras lending to her retro and patient picture-taking style.
Post graduation, she has found a love for being on the road and seeking inspiration through the different people and cultures she comes across. Katie has taken photos while studying in Paris, living in Australia, and driving cross country as often as possible. Now, she finds influence through her everyday life and the surf culture she has adapted on the Outer Banks.
She values being able to produce an image that not only brings a vision to fruition but tells a story as well. She strives to set up a creative shot or capture the moment in time. Overtime, Katie hopes to use her photography to show the simple pleasures of life and promote a healthy, sustainable earth meant to be explored.
