An Outer Banks Must-Do

With so many sights to see and things to do on the Outer Banks, sometimes a week-long stay is just not long enough! During the in-season, there are more cars on the road, and so it can take a little extra time to get from point A to point B. Biking is a great solution to get around and enjoy more during your visit.

Whether it’s heading to the beach, grabbing a bite to eat, taking in some sightseeing, or just simply exploring the town and your suroundings, doing so on a bike ride just can’t be beat.

If you didn't pack your own bike with you, don't fret! You can rent an e-Bike during your OBX stay. On an e-Bike you can go even farther with the option to pedal, or let the bike do the work for you. Less worry about parking, and more time to explore!

Top Outer Banks Bike Paths

Corolla Greenway: A several-mile paved path that runs alongside NC-12 and winds through town, offering up views of the Currituck Sound and the Currituck Beach Lighthouse.
Kitty Hawk Woods: A ~2-mile unpaved trail through a maritime forest, great for wildlife viewing.
Nags Head Woods Preserve: Roughly 2.8 miles of dirt road through rolling forested hills, boasting beautiful overlooks.

Parking is often available nearby, but it’s best to plan ahead and know where the access points are before your trip. Some OBX bike trails are easier and safer for casual riders, while others are better suited for more experienced bikers, so make sure to stay informed.

Stay near a trail!

Consider staying in an OBX vacation home near the trails. Here’s a great online reference with information on bike trails throughout the Outer Banks, including info on where to go for pedal bikes (Ocean Atlantic Rentals and Outer Banks e-Bikes).
