Before you leave the house, check the beach conditions by viewing our Corolla live stream! If it looks too rough, or if the red flags are flying, you may want to go to the H2OBX Waterpark instead.

Feed the Turtles in Kitty Hawk

Enjoy Kitty Hawk's maritime forest at Sandy Run Park in Kitty Hawk. There is a large group of turtles there that love when people come by to feed them healthy snacks like fruit and veggie scraps! This place is great to launch a kayak, have a picnic, or just go for a scenic walk. 

Treat Your Dog to a Pup Cup at John's

Dogs deserve a cold treat on a hot day too! John's Drive In at milepost 4.5 in Kitty Hawk offers pup-cups for our furry friends!

Outer Banks Arboretum

Enjoy a scenic walk and butterfly garden in Kill Devil Hills at the Outer Banks Arboretum and Teaching Garden. It's a nice, shaded walkway and a spot not many people know about!

Drop a Note at the Little Red Mailbox

In Kill Devil Hills, at the Glenmere beach access lies a red mailbox full of notes of hope to inspire others. These notes are from locals, and travelers from all over the world left to give hope to those in need. Stop by and leave a note of encouragement for others to read!

Check out the Sandcastle on Jockey's Ridge

Have you even seen the buried castle sticking out of the sand as you were driving by Jockey’s Ridge? Depending on the wind each day you can see more or less of it! Learn more about the history and how to get there below!

Casey Logan Disc Golf Course

If you are not familiar with the sport, think of golf meets frisbees, as the name dictates.  This 18 hole course, with fairways for all levels, is nestled in the woods off Colington Road.  Perfect for all ages and that cloudy day your looking for a beach alternative.  Grab a disc from Kellogg's and hit the trails!

Directions:

120 Veterans Drive

From US 158 (bypass), turn west onto Colington Road (0.3 mi.).  Turn left onto Veterans Drive (0.2 mi.)  At the traffic circle, take the 1st right to exit the traffic circle (0.2 mi.) At the second traffic circle, take the first right to exit and continue along Veterans Drive. (.03 mi). The disc golf course parking lot will be on the right.
