Great house

The house is huge (8,000 sq ft) and well-built such that sound from the 4 floors doesn't carry. Tons of parking. Our group had people ages 15-70s and everyone was happy. Each floor has its own living area. Backyard is fully fenced in. Good location, quiet neighborhood, easy access to the beach (go out the back yard gate - it's faster ;). No stores or shops are walkable so you'll be driving. Publix is very close. Goombays Restaurant is very close and super delicious. We paid $500 to heat the pool (worth it, just do it). There are several black stains on the pool floor, but whatever. Comfy furniture and beds. Main kitchen isn't huge but it's a good layout. My only surprise was there weren't any beach chairs we could use or a kitchen cabinet with standard seasonings, Saran Wrap, coffee filters (most rentals have that type of stuff left from prior renters), so you'll need to buy or bring *literally* everything like that, which is annoying after getting everything at the store for a big group, only to go back. Ground floor's game-room kitchen doesn't have any items like cups or plates, so we didn't use that kitchen but the game room floor was great overall. We would rent this house again for a big group.

This house was a game changer for our annual family vacation! Having a covered pool and enclosed backyard was exactly what we needed especially since we always do this during spring break. It kept the children occupied and safe. The house was designed for us in mind! The layout worked for our needs and having a second kitchen and ice machine made it so much easier to function with our large crowd. Having a big dumpster helped with the trash removal as we seemed to have manufactured a lot of trash! We were grateful for the elevator especially for moving in and out. We used all the chairs, tables and never felt crowded. The extra bathroom for the pool was helpful especially with kids running back and forth to use it. The house was comfortable and we felt we could live in it without baby proofing every little thing. We definitely would come back and will look to see when spring break is next year! By the Sea OBX Vacation

Beautiful home! Loved the enclosed pool! Only complaint is the bed on bottom floor was uncomfortable. Mattress kind of angles to the sides instead of firmly flat. Love having the capability of bringing multiple dogs. The fenced in yard is ideal. Nice view of the Wright Memorial. Nice location and not far from the beach though still a bit of a hike. The only other complaint is not about the house but the town ordinance that restricts having dogs on the beach. Other communities in the OBX does not have such restrictions. So though we truly loved the house, probably won't choose to stay in Kill Devil Hills due to the dog restrictions on the beach. I thank the owners for opening their home to our vacationing convenience. It is a very lovely home and absolutely loved the pool!

Great beach house

This house was much bigger than we thought. Which made it great because we had quite a few people. There were decks on every floor, and there were sitting areas in little nooks all over the place, including the rooms. It was great having the enclosed pool And the kids and adults alike really enjoyed that. There was plenty of room for us to sit and eat meals together. And parking was excellent as well.

Spacious Home- Amazing for a big group

House was perfect for what our group needed, we requested to book again next year, plenty of parking, covered pool for the rainy days, close to the beach, plenty of bedrooms with space, no one was cramped and we had Adults, children, dogs.. the whole zoo.
Suggestions:
1.)House could use larger trash bins in communal areas, we bought bigger ones.
2.) Have more dishes in the downstairs kitchen area, as there were none, not even cutlery.
3.) Washer wasn't working, and service tech came out wit

The stay was very pleasant with a very responsive host. I would say we were pretty content with the property cleanliness and host responsiveness.The kitchen is well stocked and there is plenty of space to sit for 10-20 people. Make sure to bring your own shampoo, conditioner etc. We did not have any in the bathrooms. Wonderful place to stay!

This was our first time at OBX and we were very pleased with the location of the house, size, amenities, etc. The house was very clean and nicely decorated. Kitchen was fully stocked - only thing that would have been nice was an electric griddle for pancakes. The pool was a little chilly during the day but warmed up by nighttime. I would recommend heating it even in summer. Check-in and out was seamless and easy. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again!

Nice family trip

Rental unit is in a great location - just a very short walk from beach access. Pool and yard are nice - we had a rainy week so the covered pool was a huge plus. A few of the beds were rock hard and very uncomfortable - making for a tough and sore week for some who unfortunately didnt let me know until most of the way through the week when I found them sleeping on couches. Kitchen pans (frying pans and cookie sheets) can use a refresh - otherwise fairly well stocked. Overall a good experience. The beds

The indoor pool was the reason we chose this home and it was a big hit with everyone. Warm enough with temps in the 50s. The layout is great for everyone to gather or to have their own space. The kitchen is well equipped, but could use newer pots and pans. Crock pot came in handy. Two ovens, sinks and dishwashers in kitchen were very handy. First floor kitchen was handy with extra fridge. Sept. 2023 Family Reunion

Great house for a family reunion! Plenty of ensuite bedrooms, multiple seating areas, and decks. It stormed all week but we were able to enjoy the covered pool. We stayed at sister house Sea Spirit in 2021. Love the location, close enough to beach, and everything convenient to get to.

Great Spot for Families

Our group of 15 enjoyed the layout of By the Sea. Having a fenced in backyard area for the dogs was an added bonus. Covered pool area, another great addition to the property. Short walking distance, about 5 minutes to the public beach access was very convenient. Property was very clean and met our needs for everything we like to have for amenities. Great central location to plenty of restaurants, shopping, and grocery stores.
Beach Realty was a great company to rent from.

65th Wedding Anniversary Celebration

What a perfect house in a perfect location. Easy walk to the beach and so much to do at the house as well. The elevator was key for us to have my parents 65th anniversary celebration. They are 86 and my Dad absolutely needed the elevator. The bedrooms were very spacious and we loved everything the house had to offer.

Good location for our family. Plenty of rooms for everyone. Nicely furnished and in good condition. The pool was great for the kids as was the fenced-in yard. Adequate parking for 8 cars. It's convenient to the beach (about a block away) and also to stores etc. Kitchen seemed a bit undersized however based on the number of people the house can accommodate, but we worked with it and it was fine.

We love this house!

We have been coming to 'By the Sea' for years. It is comfortable, roomy, and is in a great location...just a short walk to the beach. This year we were pleasantly surprised and delighted with all the upgrades and improvements with new furniture, appliances, and renovations. Went for spring break with 4 teens, a pre-teen, and a toddler. Beach was still a little cold, so the indoor heated pool was the focus on the whole trip! The home was amazing and we all enjoyed having lots of space! The house was very clean and the furniture even seemed brand new. The walk to the beach was very easy. The property management company was very responsive and we had no issues. We enjoyed this house very much!
