September Employee of the Month: Ron Barnes!

What started as a campaign to get Ron a water bottle turned into a landslide victory.
With eight nominations, Ron Barnes is our September Employee of the Month!
All joking aside, Ron has dedicated more than four decades to Beach Realty, and his coworkers clearly appreciate him. From his dependability and willingness to help to his daily rounds saying good morning, Ron is one of those people who quietly keeps everything running behind the scenes.
What His Coworkers Had to Say
"He always admires my Beach Realty water bottle. He clearly needs one. He clearly deserves one."
"Yes, that man deserves a water bottle!"
"Ron is always here working hard!"
"O.G."
"Have you seen Ron's desk? and if you ever drive by the office no matter what time of day - Ron's car in in the parking lot!!"
"Always consistent, Ron never misses a “good morning” while making his rounds. He keeps the numbers straight and, most importantly, keeps us paid. We know who to stay on good terms with!"
"Ron is the glue that holds Beach Realty together behind the scenes."
"Ron is dependable, helpful, and always willing to take the time to help, no matter how busy he is. After more than four decades of dedication to Beach Realty and all of us who rely on him every day, I think he is very deserving of some extra recognition!"
Congratulations, Ron! You've earned the recognition. And yes, the water bottle too.
Shout-Out to Our Other Nominees!
Ron wasn't the only one getting some love this month! Here's what coworkers had to say about our other September nominees.

Gregg Morton (2 nominations)

His willingness to take on the additional workload, respond to the needs of our guests and properties, and support the team during a challenging season did not go unnoticed. His hard work, dependability, and dedication truly demonstrate what it means to be a team player, and I greatly appreciate everything he did to help keep us moving forward."
"Always there when you need him!"
Whitney Lancaster (1 nomination)
"She has alwasy been on the ball and has helped me out from day one."
Thank you to everyone who took the time to recognize a coworker!
Beach Real-i-ty: Your Turn!
You've seen Christine. You've seen Ilona. Now it's YOUR turn!
The idea is simple: pretend you're interacting with the letter "i" in Beach Real-i-ty. Push it, pull it, point to it, toss it into place, or act like it just appeared out of nowhere. I'll add the graphics and make the magic happen during editing.
We're still figuring out the magic of making that little "i" behave. But practice makes perfect, and we need more willing victims... I mean, volunteers.
First, Set Up Your Phone
1. Hold your phone vertically and start recording.
2. Prop it somewhere steady. A desk, shelf, or stack of books works fine.
3. Step back and make sure your head, hands, and gestures will all be visible. Leave some empty space around you for the graphics!
4. Wait a couple of seconds, do your thing, then wait another couple of seconds before stopping the recording.
5. Send the original video to Brandi. No editing, trimming, filters, or fancy transitions needed!
Need an Idea? Pick a Move!
Point, Tap & Flick
- Point up like something just appeared.
- Point off to one side.
- Tap the air like you're pressing an invisible button.
- Snap your fingers.
- Flick something imaginary out of the way.
- Wag your finger like you're saying "not so fast."
- Lean into the frame and point.
Move That "i"!
- Swipe your hand sideways like you're moving something.
- Pretend to grab something from offscreen and place it.
- Toss an imaginary object toward the text.
- Pull something toward you.
- Pretend to push the words over with your hand.
- Reach up and pull the "i" down from above.
- Pretend to catch the "i" and set it in place.
- Give the "i" a little imaginary shove.
Give Us a Reaction
- Tap your temple like you just had an idea.
- Look up like you suddenly noticed something.
- Give us your best "wait... what?" expression.
- Shrug at the camera.
- Cross your arms and give a knowing look.
- Nod like "yep, that's the reality."
- Act surprised when the imaginary "i" appears.
Make an Entrance
- Walk into frame, stop, gesture, then walk out.
- Spin around in an office chair and point or look up.
- Start with your back to the camera, turn around, then gesture.
- Cover the camera with your hand, then uncover it.
- Open a door and gesture through it.
- Step aside like you're revealing something behind you.
A Few Tips From Your Very Patient Video Editor
Leave some space! Don't stand so close to the camera that your hands disappear when you reach or point.
Slow down! Give me a second to make the imaginary "i" appear, move, or land where it's supposed to.
Try it a few times! Record several gestures in one video if you want. I'll pick the best moments.
Don't worry about perfection! We're showing the real people behind Beach Realty, not auditioning for Hollywood.
Our guests, homeowners, buyers, and sellers deserve to see the real people who live and work here on the Outer Banks. And yes, that includes YOU!
No script. No special equipment. No excuses. Just a phone, a little creativity, and a willingness to be mildly ridiculous.
