Description

Watch the dolphins play as the sun rises each morning over the "Flying Tiger Inn." Enjoy the panoramic oceanfront views from inside the beach house or from the spacious oceanfront decks, the highest in the vicinity. Over the dune and down the stairs relax on your own quiet gorgeous newly nourished beach to bathe on endlessly! It's 10 yards from the beach nestled in a peaceful area, yet within minutes of just about everything!

The elevator is a God-send when it comes to limited mobility, luggage, and groceries. The first level master bedroom bath is handicapped friendly; Bath is tiled, Shower is a no lip roll in shower to accommodate a wheel chair. It has lots of grab bars, a fold down seat in the back, and a shower head wand. The toilet is at handicap height with grab bar. The sink is connected to the wall to accommodate a wheel chair to pull in underneath it. (Home is not ADA compliant although it has handicap accessible features) There is a portable playpen for the little one.

Furnished and lighted oceanfront decks with an out door hot tub for 8 you can catch an early morning sunrise or a picturesque sunset at dusk, or that big ole' Carolina moon lighting up the ocean! For your privacy we have fireproof, sound proof walls.

With the "Flying Tiger Inn" situated at milepost 17 it affords our guests some wonderful pleasures; such as, the ability to walk to the fabulous new Jennette's Pier with NC Aquarium and live animals. Or, enjoy a jog on the beach, walk or bike ride on miles of access path which will prove pleasing to all. Surf fish in front of the cottage or fish for dinner with the kids on the nearby piers. Take advantage of the world class marinas and fishing charters. Bodie Island Lighthouse, Jockeys Ridge National Park, historic quaint Manteo, the fabulous Aquarium, and Roanoke Island are all close by. There is hang-gliding, outlet shopping, go-carts, putt-putt, movies, live theater, ferry riding, arcades, fabulous restaurants, kayaking, deep sea fishing, and just about any water sport you want.

Location was wonderful!!!
Definitely needs a facelift on decor.
Cleaning left a lot to be desired.
Spider eggs on side of the bedroom door frame, mold on the shower curtains, stove burners were black/burnt (every time we used the stove, it smelled like something was burning), feet were black within a few minutes of arrival and walking around upstairs.
Some wood on the balcony steps was coming up too.
Overall a good place and would stay again, but I highly suggest the cleaning be investigated or a new company take this part over.
Also, worked out great for a family member who is in a wheelchair!!

Tiger Inn - First week in July 2023

Place is well stocked with kitchenware, had everything we needed,including sharp knives (which is a problem in some places). Bonus was a crib and two high chairs (one of the reasons we chose this place). Somewhat outdated, but it sad clean and there is lots of seating. Two decks are nice. Only thing missing was a walkway to the beach, so we ended up leaving most of our best out just before going down the dunes. Good fit for our 9 family members. Dog friendly.

Perfect Summer Stay

This house was great for a few families to share. Having 4 bedrooms and 4 bathes helped the space. Being right on the beach is also super convenient!

A great time at the beach

Really enjoyed our stay at the Flying Tiger especially the elevator I am disable so it really was an enjoyment Also liked the bathrooms in bedroomsI can’t say that the place was satisfactory in cleaning. It may have been since it is older. Now I know why it was named the Flying Tiger Made me proud.

We had a great time at the Flying Tiger Inn. The elevator was an added bonus. The weather wasn't great but the ocean views were! Everything was clean and ready for us. Would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful Stay at Flying Tiger Inn

It was wonderful! The beach is easily accessible and you can see it from the top floor. My wife has had a knee replacement and the elevator was a big help for her as stairs are difficult to manage. It was comfsortable and well appointed.

Awesome!

I would recommend these two houses if you have a lot of family vacationing together. Plenty of room and both have easy beach access. I only wished you could access each house without having to go outside and up to the other. I would pay extra to have inside access. Awesome stay!

Having stayed here before, we rented it for my wife's 55th birthday and invited friends down. Plenty of room, good view, and uncrowded beach made it wonderful. If our niece had not sat on the coffee table and broken the glass top, everything would be perfect. On the sad side, my brother passed away while we were there, but what a location to absorb the blow. Flying Tiger is 100 yards or so from where we played on the beach together for a month every year as kids (mother's family from Manteo, so not strangers to Nags Head). We would play in the dunes where this cottage is located.
p.s. The rent when we were kids down the street was $100 for the whole month with 5 bedrooms!

Handicapped Accessible?

The elevator was a lifesaver, however, for someone in a wheelchair, there were a couple of places that were still difficult to maneuver. Getting in the elevator from the garage, the incline was too steep. There was no way to get out onto the deck on the second floor. The threshold was just too high. There was absolutely no handicapped beach access from the house, even with a beach wheelchair. The hill was too steep. The house itself was perfect.

Cleaning of bathrooms, kitchen was great. However, there was still a lot of sand on the floors and on the furniture. Suggest that owner supplies a dustpan so renters can sweep during the week. We swept several times but has to improvise on collecting sand as there was no dustpan. Location was great. We could see the waves breaking from both levels!

Wonderful Family Vacation

We stayed a week at #90 The Flying Tiger Inn. The house well suited our needs. The elevator was a Godsend for my sister who uses a walker. Everyone loved the hot tub. We enjoyed our entire experience.

fantastic view!

Perfect place to go to relax and see/listen to the waves right from the house. Only complaint was that proper instructions for operating the elevator were not given until AFTER the elevator malfunctioned. It also took longer than hoped to have it fixed (largely due to it being a Sunday/holiday).

Best place we've stayed at OBX!

The property had everything we needed to accommodate the needs of 3 generations of our family. Having the elevator was a godsend. Overall the accommodations were very good. We had some problem adjusting the inside temperature to a comfortable level--there were hot spots and very cold spots. The outside doors on the ocean side were hard for the older guests to open (swollen from moisture maybe?). Other than this, everything was great. Couldn't ask for a more convenient location, and there was ample parking for our 4 vehicles. We would definitely stay here again.
