Description

Milepost 17.5. Fancy Free is the perfect getaway for those who are looking for a vacation home on the ocean. There are three private master suites - Ever desire to try a memory foam bed? – Fancy Free is your opportunity. Two of the suites have ocean views and one has an oversized Jacuzzi tub.

There are fantastic views from the great room loft and two of the master bedrooms. There are two furnished oceanfront decks for dining or relaxing outside. The two-story great room has a 30-foot glass wall that provides ample sunlight and unrestricted ocean views from the upper deck. The hot tub is located on the mid deck so you can watch the surf while enjoying the hot tub.

Fancy Free is perfect year round home to relax, read a book, play a game, shoot some pool, or watch a movie from our video library on the large screen TV. 2 TVs including 1 50" Flat Screen, 3 DVDs. The pyramid bedroom has its own TV/DVD complete with children's videos and a game closet.

Fancy Free has all the comforts of home and more. It also has two separate gathering areas for everyone to allow the adults and the children to find their own ‘play space’ yet still have the opportunity for the family time that everyone will remember long after their stay at the beach.

There is a walkway from the deck to the ocean to enable easy access to the ocean.

We had a great time at Fancy Free in mid-October. There was plenty of room for 5 adults and one baby. The direct access to the beach, views of the beach and the hot tub were awesome. We had no troubles and would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful Week

The rental agency did a great job creating a smooth arrival and departure. The house was relatively clean, but I am admittedly very demanding regarding cleanliness. All of the linen was delivered in sealed bags which was appreciated. The owners had obviously once decorated and furnished the home very thoughtfully; however, some quests had been less than considerate during their stays leaving the furnishings somewhat worn and spotted. The walk to the beach was a little difficult for those of us who are not in great physical shape due to the sand from the dunes covering some of the steps almost completely but we were able to maneuver our way.. My husband thought the hottub was very nice . The decks were very convenient for different times of the day and the view from inside the upper level was beautiful.

Great location, comfortable beds and nice spaces within the house. The kitchen is tight, but we made due.
The house needs some TLC as it is showing it's age. The deck railings are dangerous, some are coming apart from the other parts of the deck. The whirlpool tub in the upper bathroom needs a thorough cleaning (green stuff was coming out of the jets). The Hot Tub had scum around the water line and was not serviced while we were there. There is a split in the pvc pipe on the shower that is on the walkway to the beach.
The indoor furniture is filthy. It gives you an ick factor.
The outdoor furniture that is on the main deck (same as the hot tub) is faded to almost no color is showing and also very old and in need of being replaced.
All of the pictures online need to be updated.
This is a great house and it would be ashamed to see it continue to decline.

The house itself is OK. It is very dated and there are areas in the home that show severe water damage. They could remove 75% of the art and the Bear room was a bit much! The showerhead on the lower deck does not work and the outdoor showers could do with a clearing of vegetation. The beach chairs are not reliable bring your own and the lower deck chairs are on their last leg. Overall, the house was great for entertaining and has excellent views. It just needs a little sprucing up, clearing out, and dusting. The beds were comfortable.

All in all, I’d say awesome!

First and foremost the shower curtain in one of the bathrooms upstairs had a 4-5” band of mold at the bottom, no one used it until we took time from the vacation to go shopping for a new one, have pictures. The new one was put up, the old one was left draped over the toilet when we left. Also not really sure that the ones that are responsible for cleaning the unit really knows how to, the dust was very easily spotted, also have pictures of glass top night stand.
We arrived early for early check in only to find that there is now
early check in on this unit which, when rebooking for next year that there is indeed early check in.
Yes, although discouraged on our arrival we booked again for 2023.
Emails were sent, complaints were voiced to the realtor but I have heard nothing as of today.

Multi generational vacay

Fancy Free lived up to its name-we arrived and kicked off our shoes and the stress melted away! The check in and communication was seamless, the house well equipped and located so that we could enjoy every moment of the beautiful OBX. More functional than luxurious and dated, but my teens were actually very charmed by this and it reminded me of my many visits as a child to the various rugged beach houses over the years. Loved that the mattresses were so high quality, the large dining table, smaller cafe tables and bar space allowed plenty of room for eating, puzzles, etc...most of all it was a joy to find an affordable, lovely home right on the ocean.

Had a great time, house needs repairs and new furniture.

We had a very relaxing vacation and enjoyed the ocean a lot. Beds were very comfortable. The house needs repairs in many areas. Upstairs furniture is in very poor shape, especially deck chairs. Boards on boardwalk need replacing. Outside shower behind carport was a sandy, overgrown mess. Pics on web site are obviously old. We still had a fun week :) If repairs and updates were done, we would come back again. This house is too nice to be so neglected.

Overall a great week and good experience. House was clean and kitchen was well appointed. Our only complaint - the two bedrooms on the main/lower level did not cool well. The rest of the house was fine. We brought our own beach chairs and glad we did. Owners may want to invest in new ones for the house. Footloose next door had very nice ones for their guests.

Pros The view and location are awesome. Plenty of room for all-
Cons the AC downstairs never cooled below 78 while upstairs was perfect. The walkway needs tlc as many boards are loose. One big window leaks (was reported and a call was made but no one came to fix it). The hot tub was unusable-a repair team came out but was unable to fix it. Management replies quickly to issues but the repairs weren’t fixed, many things can be fixed during the off season and would make someone’s stay better.

A lovely week!

We enjoyed our stay in Fancy Free. It was a lovely home in a perfect location! With a little extra attention, it would be a GREAT home. A couple of the bedroom fans were inoperable, there were used, dirty, stained sheets left on the sofa bed, and needed more guest storage. But, in the grand scheme of things, this is minor. Beach Realty was very responsive about a leaking water heater and replaced it within 24 hours! If we didn't have an extra family joining us next summer, we would definitely rent Fancy Free again.

Great House on the beach

We rented this house for 3 times over 3 years as a family vacation. It's in a great location, with decent amenities and the perfect beach access/location.
Our only complaint is the change in the WiFi to a hotel type WiFi. It use to be just a normal house WiFi, which worked wonderfully. Then they changed it to a hotel type, where you had to log in every day and over half the time it didn't work, you couldn't log on, or it would just kick you off. This year it was important to have access to WiFi, as my husband had to work for a portion of each day - which alone wasn't ideal, then just made worse by the internet situation.
The rental staff has been generally very easy to work with.
We will miss going to this house each year and hope you will enjoy your stay just as much as we did, despite any challenges.

Wonderful location and amenities! Two downers were the carpets were very worn and not very clean, and one of the first floor bedrooms and the hall bath were not able to get cool. In fact, depending on the time of day they were actually very warm.

Looking for a fall holiday, we chose the Fancy Free property because of its location on the island and the area's points of interest. We enjoyed the multiple master suites, hot tub, pool table, and private access to the beach. The house was a good property but is in need of some deferred maintenance, however. On the first night, the TV failed and we spent the entire week trying to get the rental agency to understand and finally address the issue. As a facilities and maintenance engineer, this was upsetting and disappointing. We did not let this ruin our vacation and did enjoy the site, nearby restaurants, and house.

Great location and beach access! We used the outdoor hot tub daily. Beds are great, as advertised, and living areas are spacious and comfortable. Some furnishings need updating, but pretty solid for this price range. Be aware the upstairs MBR with jacuzzi tub has no shower, and the water comes out too close to the tub side to rinse your head, so we had to shower in other folks' bathrooms. House description is not clear about that.

The house has an excellent floor plan for a group stay. The kitchen is very well stocked with dishes and pans, particularly nice knives for a rental and tons of silver ware. We LOVED the hot tub! The upper deck has comfortable furniture as well. The beds were all pretty good, I wouldn't say luxury mattresses, but more comfortable then most beach houses we have rented over the years. The management needs to take more care of the property. The toilets run and even tho we submitted a work order for that no one came to repair them. The upstairs window still has tape on it, apparently from a repair or replacement and there is wood rot on the window frame. the outdoor showers are full of sand and so is the walkway to the beach, the stairs to the beach have all but disappeared into a dune.

We had a great stay-house was so fun and perfect! Kitchen was so well stocked. Only thing missing on arrival was ice (had to wait for ice maker to fill) and toilet paper (nice to have at least one roll if not one per bathroom).

Perfect Accommodations in Nags Head

Fancy Free is an excellent vacation house for family gatherings. All of the bedrooms are spacious and the mattresses are wonderful. The kitchen is very well equipped for preparing any and all kinds of meals. There is ample counter space and more than plenty of room to dine. The outdoor hot tub is a plus and the pool table on the very large upper level loft is great to have on hand for late night entertainment with friends and family. The house's location on the beach could not be better, and is only a half mile walk on the beach to Jeanette's Pier and is close to many well established restaurants (excellent food and service at Owen's, Tale of the Whale, Sugar Creek and Miller's Waterfront which are all nearby) and attractions. The view from the upper level deck of the house is perfect for morning coffee and dolphin watching! Our 2-week vacation at Fancy Free was just ideal for 7 adults, but there are many accommodations for children of all ages as well. The property was easy to find after check-in and it was clean and orderly when we arrived. We will definitely look for this property again on our next family vacation in the Outer Banks.

Wow! Fabulous!!!!!

This was a great experience from start to finish...the realtor was very helpful ..answered all our question at anytime ...when we got there it was quick and easy check in...we were at our house quickly and on the beach....the linen package was so worth the money, not having to pack all those sheets and towels. What can I say about the house other then it was has the most comfortable beds and pillow...I was very upset I forgot y pillows but didn't matter, these were terrific. It was well stocked with everything you needed, although the beach chairs could be replaced. Torn and wouldn't close but all in all we had a great week and we are going back next year!

Weekend get away

Much needed get away!! Fancy free was a beautiful beach house
Morning light lit the whole house beautifully!!
Hot tub was a blessing, given that it was a chilly night and morning!
Other then something sharp that was stepped on in the carpet
No complaints here and would stay again with out doubt!

We found the house to function well for 3 families. Good location. Easy beach access and good porch areas. Wi-Fi was stressed at times and required renewing the IP address.
