It's 4 o'clock and your packed into a small office lobby with 10 other people waiting for your vacation house to be ready for check in. It's hot outside, your whole family is tired, and you're dreaming about walking into an air conditioned house and pouring the first drink of your vacation. We have a solution for you: keyless entry

How to Find a Keyless Outer Banks Vacation Home

Keyless vacation homes are very common, and most of the homes in our program are keyless, but they do get swept up quickly so don't wait to book one! You can tell if a home is keyless by the icons under the photos and in the featured amenities location above the property's written description.

Search our keyless entry rental page, or select the keyless entry amenity when you are using the filers on our search page.

Check In Process

For our homes that have keys, check in could be anytime between 4-6 pm, depending on when the home has been inspected and when we are given the green light to release the keys to the guest. The great thing about keyless entry is that you are emailed a code a couple of days before your arrival, which is also accessible in our mobile app. The code begins working when your home is ready for check-in (between 4pm-6pm) the day of arrival which means you can skip the check in office and drive straight to the home!

The door with the keypad is usually on the lowest level of the home, in the carport area. Once the code is entered, it will flash green indicating that you can now open the door. Another added bonus of keyless entry is that the door automatically locks behind you, so you aren't left wondering if the door has been locked or not.  If the keypad flashes red, it means that you either entered the wrong code or the battery is dead in the keypad. Please call or text us at 800-635-1559 to help troubleshoot these issues. At the end of your vacation, you can check out on our mobile app or call/text us that you're leaving and head on out!

Great For Large Groups

A keyless lock is great for large groups. We only allow two sets of keys to be released for each home, which can leave you worrying about being locked out of the house if no one is there to let you in. With keyless entry, the code can be shared with the members of your group and no one has to worry about being stuck outside of the home.
