The month of October is flying by. The Outer Banks is finally starting to see some cooler weather, and the local events are following suit! With Halloween right around the corner, it's time to enjoy some spooky Halloween events! Here's are some spooky Outer Banks events that are worth stopping by if you're in town.
This event is taking place at the Dare County Center on Saturday, October 26th. he 5K will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the Fun Run at 10:00 a.m. The race benefits the Annual Dare County Center Toy Drive held every December, serving over 400 local youth residents.
Taking place on October 26th from 10 am to 1 pm at the Elizabethan Gardens, this event is free for members, $9 for adults, $6 for youth, and kids 14 and under are free with an adult. They are offering hayrides, a hay bale maze, crafts, games, cupcake walk, and much more!
This is an event for kids of all ages! Learn about the Outer Banks fishing industry, and tour the spooky exhibits. Located at the Roanoke Island Maritime Museum in Mateo on October 31st.
Running through the end of the month, this scary event is a little bit of a drive from the beach, but totally worth it if you're looking for a scare! They are open every Friday and Saturday night in October. Tickets are $15, available for purchase with cash once you get there. This event isn't for young children.
A Halloween parade will be taking place on October 27th at Aviation Park in Kill Devil Hills. This is a free, family-friendly costume event. Party is to begin at 2 pm, the parade will start at 3 pm, and the awards ceremony for the best costume will follow! Thousands of dollars in prizes will be awarded to the best costumes!
