Perfect location- beautiful home. The house needs a deep cleaning. Also, we were initially told that check in was at 4, but house wasnt available till 5- that is hard when you are traveling 5 hours to get there. I would suggest no later than 4. We did have an amazing trip and would stay here again.

All you need.

Lazy Lizard is in the perfect location to walk and bike to restaurants and ice cream shops. Also, with the pool and right on the ocean you don't ever really need to leave! The house has all the amenities you need; plenty of bedrooms & bathrooms, double washer & dryer, dishwasher, grills etc.. It is a quirky 80's decor but it is a fun place to vacation.

The name and bright colors caught our attention from the start.

Great ocean front location/a tavern right across the street-convenient for a quick bite/near many tourist sites/recommend Jockeys Ridge!
1 dishwasher was broken and repair was never completed while we were there.
Sofa fabric very stained/1 previously broken sofa leg was repaired same day that we reported it. Things we wish were there: waste cans in bathrooms/bedrooms/
fans/ vegetable peeler/more flat baking pans/additional stove and a broom! Loved the hot tub but pool was cold. Family enjoyed volleyball, pool table and other games provided with the property. All in all we had a great time and would rent again .

Since your stay the dishwasher has been repaired, all upholstery has been professionally cleaned, and waste baskets have been added to the bathrooms. Kitchen utensils have also been replaced including a vegetable peeler, cookie sheets, and a broom. We do hope you'll come back when we have some more consistent air temps and can enjoy that pool (and free pool heat of course)!

Just what we were looking for!

Our family was looking for a fun oceanfront spot to spend a quiet spring break week. It was our first trip to Nags Head and the Lazy Lizard grabbed our attention. Boy did it live up to our expectations! It's a beautiful, colorful house that couldn't be closer the beach. We loved the hot tub, fuss ball table, and gorgeous ever changing views from the third story windows. We even took a quick polar plunge in the pool in March! It's is a great location, directly across from a yummy tavern called Lucky 12 (amazing fried local oysters) and the most delicious fro-yo at Surfin' Spoon. But the proximity to the beach made it--we'd love to return some day!

Ideal location and Beautiful view

Our family of 8 adults, 5 children and 4 dogs just spent 2 weeks at the Lazy Lizard. Location is excellent. Beach view and access superlative. House is spacious and perfect for large family. Kitchen supplies need updating. It's the little things that make a difference. Almost every coffee mug is identical white - not ideal for 8 adults to tell apart. Too much mismatched kitchen supplies for my taste and no storage containers. The house was wonderful, the kitchen merely adequate. Some basic maintenance needed. Chairs repaired, etc. But overall, a WONDERFUL vacation!

Loved the Lizard!

We (3 couples) decided to give ourselves a winter get-away and the Lazy Lizard provided the perfect place for our retreat! The home is centrally located in Nags Head, well appointed, and has unbelievable views. The hot tub was lovely on some cold winter days.

Family Christmas getaway

We spend this Christmas at the lazy lizard. It was very nice of the owners to change the rental days from the normal Saturday to Saturday to Friday to Friday to accommodate our travel plans. Over all the property had plenty of room for all 18 of us and our 2 dogs. Having the beach as your backyard was awesome.... great for the family kick ball game! The home was clean. One of the bunk beds don’t get sheets put on it, but not a big deal we didn’t need that bed. The property could use a little love.... the drawers in the frig were broken... they still were able to be used. They had done some nice improvement to the pool deck area, but that meant there was no Enclosed dog area on the side of the home as seen in pictures. The location of the house was good , close to many things. We loved the sunsets at Jockey Ridge!

Lazy Lizzard Vacation

This was our second year at Lazy Lizzard. The upgrades were very nice.The location is great. The internet kept stopping and we had to wait for hours for your person to fix it. Neighbors at the next house to the north side were rude, loud and confrontational in front of my family and children ruining our vacation.We love the location, but were a little disappointed. I was also disappointed that there was no consideration for the rental fee for rerentering. We left the property in very good shape when we left.

Relaxing and Beautiful

My family and I really enjoyed The Lazy Lizard. We loved the location so close to the pier where we could walk for some good cocktails and appetizers on the ocean. The house is super relaxing and has beautiful windows. Waking up on the third floor master was amazing when the sun came up. I loved the decor. The best part really is the dog areas, if you have a well behaved dog you are in for a treat. The dog can be left upstairs on the deck when you are hanging out. The dog can just walk to the dog play area and use the bathroom. Attention to detail is amazing at this house. Highly recommend. We had such a wonderful time!

Great house for a large group

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Lazy Lizard. We had a group of 18, ranging in age from 10-90! There are alot of stairs to deal with - something to consider if there are older people in your group. The layout of the house was great. Plenty of comfort for all. Furniture, fixtures and kitchen items can definitely use some updating, but it was clean. Dryers need maintenance - loads were taking 3 cycles to dry. Other minor issues experienced throughout our stay that were handled in a timely manner by management. Nothing that took away from a great vacation! Location was great. We didn't venture too far from the house - there was so much to do right there. All ages had a great time. Would definitely recommend to others.

The Beach house that we had rented was not ready to be rented. We were three hours from OBX when the agent Christine called and gave us the bad news. She made it right and then some! A week in Heaven

This home had everything that my family could ask for...located right on the beach, pool, hot tub..plenty of space for privacy and for family gatherings. It was clean inside with nice clean sheets on all the beds. My only slight issue was that the cost of the heated pool was $500 + tax...the beginning of the week it was nice but as the week progressed the pool got cooler and cooler, almost to the point of being uncomfortable. The water was low in both pool and hot tub, which we filled..there was a lot of sand in both pool and hot tub, not from us but wasn't cleaned out. It didn't bother us at all but some people might not be happy...the sand from the beach blows in and its inevitable that this may happen...I would recommend this home to anyone with a large family, plenty of room and plenty of things to do..

We are sorry to hear you were disappointed regarding the pool heat cost. The pool heat cost does run higher for some homes depending on how the heater operates. Some are electric and some require propane. We hope that you made tons of memories and that you begin planning your next family gathering at the Outer Banks soon. Update (1/19/21): The owner has replaced the pool heating system with a more cost effective option. You will find the pool heat fee for this home to be $350, unless you are renting in the Spring or Fall, in which case the owner has waved this fee! Enjoy FREE pool heat from 3/27 to 5/22 & 9/25 to 11/20! In response to the sand and dirt in the pool and hot tub, we have implemented regular deck/pool area cleaning in addition to our normal pool/spa routine.

We took mom and dad to the outerbanks to celebrate their 56th anniversary. The location of the property was perfect. The house was clean and neat. The view of the beach from the house was perfect. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub as well. Great memories and absolutely no complaints.

The best vacation of our lives

It was nice that the owner drop the price for the week we stayed for. with us booking this at the last minute and the owner came down a little bit more in price that week. We and the family are recommending these property to all of our friends. The check in is the so wonderful that every thing is Email to you so you Don't have to stop at the rental property. Any thing you need is real close in walking distance. We just a wonderful time just sitting on the decks and looking at the ocean all day long.

Stay at Lazy Lizard in Early April

Overall our stay was excellent. House was in great shape and distance to the beach is great - less than 200 feet. The relief area for our dog was a great benefit and easy to let the dog go and do its business. We had a minor issue with the electric can opener not working but received a new one the next day. A couple of the bathroom fans were not working but not an issue for us but we did report it for future repair. Location is fantastic and would definitely rent this house again. Only disconnect was with perceived free day access to Jeanette fishing pier. This was not provided and Beach Realty said owner made no provisions for this to be provided. Other than that, all was as advertised and we had an excellent stay. Great house for a large group of family or friends and very dog friendly with a fantastic central location on the outer banks. Within approximately an hour of both Cape Hatteras and Corolla and easy access to Roanoke Island.

Relaxing Family Beach Vacation

Our family of five plus one yellow lab spent a week at the Lazy Lizard in April of 2015 and could not have had a more wonderful time. The location was perfect, giving us easy access to our pick of the neighborhood's restaurants and shops and right on the water. We could have parked the car and not moved all week. The view from the deck and the upstairs living room and bedrooms is amazing, and I had the opportunity to witness some of the most beautiful sunrises I have ever seen.

For our children who were 5, 7, and 9 years old, the owners had thought of everything! From the swimming pool to the volleyball court to the well-appointed downstairs game room with pool table, foosball table and tv, they were never without something to do.

Our dog was thrilled that we could let him out onto the upstairs deck and that he could walk himself down to the fenced-in dog area. It was perfect, allowing us to give him the autonomy that he enjoys at home in our fenced-in yard and not having to spend the week worrying.

I had to work during some of our stay, and was able to enjoy the quiet view from the upstairs deck while toiling away on the fabulous wifi connection.

We did a lot of cooking and really enjoyed the double dishwashers and the view from the dining area. Many hours were spent at the table playing board games and assembling puzzles as a family. I would absolutely recommend the Lazy Lizard to anyone looking for a place to relax, unwind and reconnect with enough room to spread out too.

Beautiful Home!

Great house - great location - from pool to beach in 30 seconds!! The house is wonderful - great decor! Would highly recommend to any family or friends gathering.
