What are the Wedding/Event fees?

Marriage Law:
Age requirement 18 (16 with parental consent)
Under 21 requires a birth certificate
Cost $50.00
No waiting period
A blood test is not required
License is valid for 60 days (all areas of North Carolina)

Other Requirements:

Social security card or proof of your social security number (pay stub, tax return, etc.)

Photo ID

Two witnesses must be present at the ceremony

A divorce decree is required if either applicant is divorced

*If an applicant does not have a social security number, they must contact a notary public

Marriage Certificate Requirements:

Couple’s names and address

Date of the marriage

The county that issues the license

The date of the license

The minister or magistrate’s signature

The minister or magistrate must return the marriage certificate to the Register of Deeds

Special Permits and Policies:

Please contact town officials for information on local noise ordinances. If you are planning to have your event on the beach, please contact the town for policies regarding tents, chairs, arches and fireworks. Permits are required for any wedding being held on National Park Service land.
